Wink NIA SoM in news - 02-11-2006, 02:05 PM

HI,

As i said this forum is for all the people who are interested in INSURANCE sector, which is one of the fastest growing sector in India. I am a MBA student of NIA SoM. Few students in NIA SoM are doing a project on Kidnapping and Ransom insurance, CNN IBN came to NIA campus and they are showing a news item regarding that. You can view that at following link
In Bihar, insure against kidnapping : kidnapping, insurance, bihar, pune : IBNLive.com : CNN-IBN

I think it will surely help people who are interested in Insurance.

Hello to NIA people

I want to come into Insurance field, and I Have an IT background. I am applying to both NIA and BIMTECH's MBA program. I came to know about NIA from brother who is working in Wipro's insurance vertical. He has adviced me to go for NIA's MBA program.

I want know something about the type of faculties at NIA and do you invite guest faculties from industries to giv more practical knowledge?

Can you tell me something more about the insurance summit which NIA organises every year? Can i participate in it?

Thanks

Dear sarika,
This year wipro technologies have picked 9 out of 58 students and have been the largest recruiter in our campus.they have also taken 7 summer traineees.

Cognizant and TCS have been other major recruiters. L & T Infotech, mastek, newgen etc are other IT recruiters who visited campus.

more than 25 % of our batch mates have found jobs in IT firms.
As far as guest lecture is concerned. We have more than 250 people visiting campus for guest lectures in any odd year in NIA from various streams and industry.

The much awaited insurance summit organized by NIA SOM will happen on 18th january 2007. I am sending you the link for the same http://www.niasom.edu.in/Insurancesummit07/index.htm
Thanks....

In hyderabad there is an institute called
"INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR INSURANCE AND FINANCE".(triple I F in short!!)
it has a 1 yr program called P.G. DIPLOMA IN INSURANCE and RISK MGT(PGDIRM)...
very much similar to the 1 yr course at IIRM ,HYDERABAD, but much cheaper than it....no 2 yr mba as of now though..... but during placements, they were treated on par with mbas.
check out the website
International Institute for Insurance and Finance - IIIF : Degree and diploma courses, certificates in insurance and finance, india insurance programmes, indian insurance academics institutes

Something about NIA - 04-01-2007, 10:49 AM

tHANKS Mr. for informing us that there is one more college which offers PG in Insurance. I think all the people who know about other colleges which offer MBA or PG in Insurance share it with us.

I want to share one thing with you, what makes NIA, Pune different from others is that this college was started by the initiative of Ministry of Finance (Gov. of India) LIC and GIC in 1980 for imparting training to insurance executives. NIA is the examining body of Brokers License. It trains more then 5000 executives from 57 different countries every year.

So, people start sharing some information about your respective Insti.

Regards,
