2009 is too far to predict, depends much on state of economy..
anyways, what makes you feel that you would be average wherever you go... in a higher ranked scool, you may be lower than avg while in a lower ranked one, you maybe above avg.. so not comparable..
roughly, all the A+ ranked B-schools are expected to have more than 10+ in 2009 going by current projections... A+ wud include top 10-12 colleges in country....

Priyanshu bhai I think that u made a typo... its more lik 98.9 + for one call and that too with a balanced sectional %ile

How do we exactly determine how good a Bschool is? Of course i'm not talking about the IIMs or other A+ schools (SPJain etc), but the A-grade ones( e.g. XIMB, GIM, BIM, IMT Gz, SIBM, etc)

The question I'm putting up is how do these colleges (atleast the ones i mentioned) stand up in actually teaching management? How to determine that?

P.S. I'm not talking about salaries. Unfortunately that's the only thing talked about generally...

P.S.S. I have a work-ex of 2+ years.

1) You dont wanna compare salaries (thank god)
2) You wanna know how differently they teach management

Well all i can say is that in a Bschool a major part is the mearning from experince sharing with others. Thus you can safely say that all BSchoools will teach you Marketing from Kotler to begin with and thats where the similarity also ends

different institutes have differernt pedagogy (Case study, classroom,etc) so keep that in mind too.

SO i wud say that to determine an institute as being good pr not talk to an alumni or 2nd year student (can be found easily through PG) as they are sometimes the best judge and ask them to be frank with you and they would be

ok... agreed its 98.9+, yes, most importantly, scores need to be balanced... even a slightly lower percentile will do with good breakups.

highly confused newbie..please help!!!! Ok people..first of all a big hello...i have already posted on the thread "Intoduce yourself" but didnt get any encouraging replies....

I completed my graduation in B.COM(HONS) with 69% from ranchi university...
my past academic record is 88% in hsc(I.C.S.E) and 68% in ssc(CBSE science)...

Throughout my graduation days and even as of today i have been assisiting my dad in his steel manufacturing industry but i dont think thats a relevant work experience...

till ssc i have been fairly good in extra curriculars...

considering my back-ground which are the b-skools that you pros think i shud be reallistically targeting...do i stand a chance in top schools like SPJ and FMS with my back-ground, provided of course that i get an excellent CAT score...

kindly tell me all the good b-schools that i can aim at???

Fringant...
YOu are the best judge of your own ability. Also your past background (academic and extracurcs) will be considered only after you get calls based on your test scores.
What is more important now is for you to analyse your mock scores vis a vis others around you (%iles of SIMCAT, AIMCATS, etc)
After that take a look at the first post here and try to ascertain for yourself. The question you have ansked is too generic and would be very difficult to answer...
Ask more specific questions after conducting an initial analysis and we shall answer, DO NOT expect any spoon feeding
