I respect your thougts mate and your belief in coaching institutes rankings. I would request to you to again go through the rankings of PG and and Business world where in many institutes which are shown in cluster 4 have better rankings than cluster 3 institutes ( i don believe much in rankings but since you mentioned it i m quoting it). Moreover aspirants are smart :rockon:but still this is the area where they find themselves baffled, and that is the reason why these threads are opened to help them:hurray:. A current student or an alumini of an institute can give better idea rather than an outsider.

hmm where do u think a score of 70-90 in CAT stand..n what all colleges should the person apply ?

considering the three categories..i wd love to know the colleges which should be my backup and which should be my "within reach".

plz help me out am a fresher and i dont have much knowledge about the cut offs to various colleges.

Atm..am considering these colleges apart from CAT > SIBM , SCHRD ,SIIB ,FMS,

what all colleges should i fill up considering i might get a score of 70-90 ?

PS : i really want to do my MBA this year itself..so am happy with a B+ institute too in any metro.

70-90 in CAT would mean u could safely remove the cluster1 and most cluster 2 colleges(correct me if i am wrong here)
A bad score in CAT aint the end of the world. There are loads of decent colleges out there. Infact since u have also targeted other Bschools, it would mean u wud b giving other exams as well. You could perform well in the other exams and get a good college.
Keep the hope and faith. Thinking that you would get a lower percentile would be simply demeaning yourself.

i have a query regarding the b school selection...
i am a 2006 passout from NIT hamirpur and working for the last 2.4 years as an SAP consultant...
i am giving a try for MBA this year...
i want to know whether i should apply to SIBM (n other symbi colleges) or not...
i have been getting mixed opinions from puys and other people too...
the base of my query is whether symbi appropriate for a candidate with 3 years of experience...

The institutes u mentioned requires a performance equivalent to >90% in CAT. I am sure there is still time left to do well. Work hard.

Some good institutes in the 70-90 range, which u may consider are:

SDM-IMD Mysore, Amrita Univ, Lucknow University, ABV-IIITM, NIT trichy, XIME B'lore, Alliance B'lore, BIT mesra, ITM navi mumbai, Welingkar, IISWBM Kolkata, BIMTECH, IILM lodhi road, MNNIT allahabad, IFMR Chennai, IMT-N, KIAMS

Go thru the sites to get info abt cutoffs.

Symbi colleges, specially SIBM and SCMHRD are great schools to get into. But given ur profile, I am not sure if it would be a good decision to gte into the other symbi institutes.

i have posted earlier in this forum but had left off 1 major thing.i have failed in my final year exams held in this may and am applyin to instis as degree incomplete
i failed due to some serious health issues.dats true but will the panel believe it?because otherwise my grades are nothing to write home about if u dont consider the fact that its mumbai university(always a bit tuf to get marks.topper is abt 70 %)
i am getting 90 to 98 in the mocks and am confident of getting a grt %ile
in fact i had gotten 95 5ile in cat 07 and had converted welingkar and somaiya but cdnt accept bcause of health problems
so puys i'd like to know your opinion on this.will any school consider me,overlooking my failure even if i get 99%ile in cat?
shld i apply at all to any b school?
or shld i get my degree and hunt for some jobs n get back aftr a cpla years?
its unique because any panel wdnt have met a guy with a grt %ile but a failure.

Your expectations will define the institutes you should apply to. SIBM-Pune and SCMHRD are definitely the top-most institutes in the Symbiosis group and have average domestic packages above 10 LPA.

SIIB has an avg domestic package of 7.6 LPA and is suited for those interested in International Business.

SIOM is only for engineers and has an average domestic package of 7.1 LPA (overall) and 8+ LPA for laterals (having 20+ months of work-ex). You can apply to SIOM if you have interest in operations. GATE AIR-4(CHEM ENGG 07)
Had got through NITIE n JB last year.......but was nt interested in doing MBA last year (took chance fr IIM) but want to go fr it next year........

12th-90.2%
Engg-70%(Nagpur University)

Till date i've applied fr CAT & JMET....
