Thats true only for Operations and IM. You can always give a try for Finance and Marketing specialization. Again for more insight u can visit http://spjimr.org/placements/batch_profile.asp to get an idea of present batch profile.

No, SPJain does not keep track of such things. There are quite a few students in my batch who were not able to clear the interview previous year. The basis on which students are called is a very well laid procedure. It depends mainly on the parameters as discussed in my last post. So I don't think that's a big concern.

Will taking the interview after writing CAT or before writing CAT make a difference..

Not that I know of any. People were selected across the duration. So no location preference, no timing preference.
During my time i.e last year an interesting observation was that quite of lot of people who were not expecting good CAT scores preferred to go for interview before CAT scores were actually announced. I dunno if it really helped them

Jan 10,17,18,24-26
Feb 21-29
Venue: SPJIMR, Mumbai
Time: 9 am -3:30 pm

I got the call through post and received a mailer yesterday.

Here's my profile as so many have asked- I'm flattered
Acads: 83%(X),86%(XII),80%(B.E.-Elect. Engg.)
39 mths exp. in a big, fat IT co.
A professional certification, perf. award at co.
Extra-curriculars: Quizzes(school),mags.(Univ. & Co.)
Social work: None, no "farting" in essays either.

Pref 1 was Info. Mgmt., and Pref 2. was Mktg. Both have the maxm. no. of seats at 42 each.

I did search for essays on Net, but was loath to strain them out and get a 'best of breed' thingie So one morning, after CAT-1, got up early morning and started writing down whatever I felt. Went over the first draft, corrected the typos and EU errors and did a neat arrangement (parajumble effect )- then 'faired' it on the form.

I'm currently out of work, plan to get back to work after CAT. So, I'll probably be taking the interview this month itself, maybe on 10th/17th, as I want to use around 2 weeks for some job search before going into CAT-2 mode again
Can some PGite help with a night's acco. in Mumbai- I'd be coming over from Pune? A treat would of course be due, and one more if I get thru
Regarding, interview or GD, I hope, my policy of being straightforward and honest will help . I can't pretend to be a different person and fib about social work, I guess it would be the height of uneasiness for me! And regarding extreme views etc, well I do have some, and I would not try to get into them- a half hour interview is not the forum to explain your worldview
Frankly I don't see the point in such "lying thru the teeth"- which would seem to be one of the qualities to get admission - and even the prof.s know that, just as B queens would go on about social work and then jump into Bollywood at the first opportunity. I don't think such a quality makes for a good manager: mebbe the profs. could put it as flexibility

Hope to have a relaxing XAT tomorrow- job search after that

Hi all,

Can anybody please tell me when the IIMs will come with their interview dates after CAT. I remember reading somewhere that they will take some two weeks to do the processing, so that means first week of march.

I need this information as i need to send the interview dates for SPJain interview and planning to send the last week of Feb dates. I will get into trouble in case the dates start clashing.

Probably i am being a lot more optimistic !!!

Dude..vik frm Sp himself has cleared the doubts in previous messages in a most proper manner..why dont u read it !! Bottom line is there is Absolutely no difference in a guy giving his interview before or after CAt or in first list or second..so chill and prepare well !!! Gooood luck !

as vik already said it doesnt matter when u send the form(as long as its before the last date) if ur essays are as per theyre liking u stand a chance......
so wht r u waitin for

could u all throw some light regarding the criteria for selection for interview.....i have heard that work ex plays a very major role in spj......any idea what could be the minimum work ex desired by them...i have just 15 months of IT work ex...
