All this talk about Dubai programme...Have u guys checked out the program there?? Its not the normal Business program...Its some wierd programs... Hospitality Management... If its gotto do with Hospitals & nurses.. then.. Dubai is a great place.. its said.. they want lots of nurses around...

Hey check out XLRI Dubai program too.. but then.. thats an executive mba... so.. get a job & then an MBA...

But seriously.. Vik.. whens the next list coming up??? Any news on that??? Gosh.. was hoping that i would finish my interview before the CAT... .. Once my CAT score reaches them.. ... They would call me just to ask me what the hell i was thinking when i sent in that application form...

When is the Second List being released and how many more such lists are to be expected ?

Mr. Vik, will SPJ send any rejection letter if not qualified for Interview ? So that if I didnt make I dont have to wait for lists endlessly. Anyway I sent mine on 20th Jan, I dont think it would have been evaluated by now.

Regards

Uday

Rightly said...I am also fed up seeing the same message. I have sent form long back in Nov.

I have 4+ exp in top auto manufacturing co. My acads are avg. to good. Do not know why I did not get a call in first list.

Can anyone tell why have first round of interviews taken so long time if there are few more lists yet to come.

Meanwhile I will hope for the best.AMEN

aka.

Re: SP Jain interview calls - 10-02-2004, 06:49 PM

As I understand SPJ gives weightage to lot of parameters like acads, work ex , Essays etc...(Oh I forgot also CAT Scores). So If a candidate doesnt make the interview stage or the final stage it would be on basis of the total sum of all these parameters (I think they call it Composite Index).

So if you are not called for the interview or admit , you are not aware of the reason behind it, you can only make your own hypothesis. I know that till 2 years ago even IIM's methodology was not known, but somehow u got the idea of your performance and you would find that SIMCAT toppers mostly make it into the IIM's. And you would be able to gauge your relative performance.

But incase of SPJ, other factors have their own importance which I suppose is more than the importance given to CAT score. So I feel that if any candidate is not qualified in the first list as per their evaluation criterian they should very much make it apparent (instead of saying about first round) and prolonging the wait, because we dont know whether for drawing up second list they go through the forms (which didn make to first round) once again.

If in a manager they are looking for so many things (like pedigree, acads, extra curric, social work) and as PG said in some other thread is true, 60 - 80 percentileers have made it , they are not looking for Basic verbal and analytical skills in them, this I find a little strange. So a good performance in CAT may not offset any disadvantages a candidates record may have.

Anyway by writing this thread I have offloaded what I had in my mind and as Simba said I will concentrate on CAT, and PI preparation for XLRI.

Regards

Uday.

PS: Also Mr. Vik, if you have read this, and any point has offended you as a student of the institute sorry for it.

Hi guys,
I have my group interview on the 21st (Sat) at 12:00 pm. Am getting a little worried about it spl. after a terrible performance on the CAT. Is there anything specific that I should prepare for the interview besides the regular "Why MBA?" type of questions?
Do they quiz candidates on current affairs / politics?
Is it true that CAT score is not a big deciding factor for final admissions?
Others who have got a call -> How've you guys done in the CAT? My net score is around 45

Vik,

Can u post something regarding SP cutoffs of CAT scores. Tho' the website says there is no cutoff- I'm still not too sure.
Might miss the cutoffs for QA section, considering it was easier than the leakCAT and my performance slipped a long way!!

How does it go for guys who ace one section- say EU, and the other 2 goes from so-so to pathetic?
