Most of the issues have been covered extremely well by B school junta. My speaking on the same lines would be spam, but let me end this discussion with just one question:

Agreed, you don't have a rich academic profile, agreed you fear you won't be in an advantageous position compared to academically rich people, but will all these prevent you from taking CAT ? Will you not be competitive in CAT ? Will you not give your 100% ?

yes it does affect and this is reality for most of the b-schools. Though there are good b-schools who are not much bothered about the acads, once you get required score in the entrance. Though you have to face questions on poor acads in PI.
But keep in mind that, if there is a person available with better acads and same score, why would they choose you? You must need something extra to compensate.

I agree with that.
everyone has already made a choice to appear at CAT 2006, in spite of the fact that many of us are having very bad acads.
Once we have decided to take the CAT, there is no point in bothering about our acads at this point.

If we make it to 99+ percentile at CAT, the ball will be in IIM's court rather than in ours. It will be there problem whether they call us or not.

One thing for sure, the IIM needs dedicated fellow who can take the rigor of studies rather than make excuses. If you prove at GDPI (provided they decide to call you) that you are good enough despite having bad acads, you are through.

If you can't, then your high score and even good acads are useless.

So focus on CAT 2006 only at this point.
