I think its goona be easier paper this time. Reason
1. they have increased the time meaning they want to put less pressure.
2. just like Jee which has reduced the difficulty level of qns drastically so as to make it less demanding for students CAT might do the same way.
3. "Please note that the cut off for short listing SC/ST/PWD candidates for group discussion and
personal interview would not be less than 17% score in each of the three sections of CAT 2006 and no less than
25% score in aggregate. For other categories, it would be no less than 25% in each of the three sections and no less
than 33% in aggregate. The actual cut-offs used for short-listing, however, may be higher than the above mentioned
percentage scores and would depend upon the performance of candidates in CAT-2006."
yaar 33% in cat-05 means 50 nos meaning ~ 99.5 %ile (750 students) and above that they want balanced scores also.score of 12.5 in quant and DI could fetch you ~95%ile+ this way they won't be able to select more than 400-450 for GD/PI.
Also if they increase the level of difficulty further how can they expect students to score 33% in aggregate.
4. Now to ease the pressure due to uncertainity involved in selection they are now more and more reveling their selection criteria. First about negative marking than cutoffs.
5. Also if you talk about brains then guys who are repeating CAT (like me

) have better preparation and chance of cracking a tougher question ( more exposure to different sort of question over a longer period of preparation time). That's why Jee lowered its difficulty level to nullify the effect of repeaters and coaching classes which used to prepare students for these tougher questions.
also chill guys whether its hard or easy they have to fill their same no of seats in any case.getting low scores won't make IIMs to decrease their seats or having more score won't make them to have more seats
