3. "Please note that the cut off for short listing SC/ST/PWD candidates for group discussion and
personal interview would not be less than 17% score in each of the three sections of CAT 2006 and no less than
25% score in aggregate. For other categories, it would be no less than 25% in each of the three sections and no less
than 33% in aggregate. The actual cut-offs used for short-listing, however, may be higher than the above mentioned
percentage scores and would depend upon the performance of candidates in CAT-2006."

yaar 33% in cat-05 means 50 nos meaning ~ 99.5 %ile (750 students) and above that they want balanced scores also.score of 12.5 in quant and DI could fetch you ~95%ile+ this way they won't be able to select more than 400-450 for GD/PI.
Also if they increase the level of difficulty further how can they expect students to score 33% in aggregate.

4. Now to ease the pressure due to uncertainity involved in selection they are now more and more reveling their selection criteria. First about negative marking than cutoffs.

5. Also if you talk about brains then guys who are repeating CAT (like me ) have better preparation and chance of cracking a tougher question ( more exposure to different sort of question over a longer period of preparation time). That's why Jee lowered its difficulty level to nullify the effect of repeaters and coaching classes which used to prepare students for these tougher questions.

also chill guys whether its hard or easy they have to fill their same no of seats in any case.getting low scores won't make IIMs to decrease their seats or having more score won't make them to have more seats

It is good that you mentioned this stuff given in the CAT brochure, as stated individually by IIM Ahmedabad. There is one thing I have highlighted above as can be seen - I hope its very clear...

As a loophole, or as a hint, IIMA as left a clue for all of us - CAT 2006, at least according to the brochure sticks to THREE sections, even though it is of 2 and a half hours. I am really surprised as to how no one seemed to notice the same. So relax guys, the stuff will be all the same - DI< Quant and Verbal. We just gotto stick to our regular preparation and have belief in ourselves.

I hope the IIMs are just enough to stick to what they have stated in the brochure...

Please pass on this info to all the coachin classes, just in case no one has noticed it as yet...

All the best for CAT 2006 to all...

Ashish

Hey pal, dont be tense, what will Time say?,they are already wrong as their mock paper proved, but,we should not ignore Experience of Time Bosses, just take it and prepair according to their suggestion. However, learning never worth worthless,it`s always count.

These all are illusions,it`s come always when something going to be good.

If you insist we can bend space and rewrite ther 2005 bulletin again but still it would have less than 100 questions

Hey when I mean 100 or less Question I mean the Sample Questions and not OMS.....Ignorance is deeply Regretted...OOPs

Lemme Blow some holes into this line of thinking
Seriously Reading through all 90 questions isn't an easy task on an average 97+ (40 marks)wallah folks read arnd 60 Questions last year.In 150 Miunutes take 30 more Questions thats 90 Question or almost 100% of last years paper therefore more Management Decision Making would be there.

Imagine if there are more than 120 Qs?Just to qoute NMAT it has 150 minutes and has GK too even then people choose and do questions despite an easy set of Questions.
Also the XAT was a question paper where even 3 hours wouldn't have helped a lot...CAT,XAT,IIFT,FMS~AT,aren't Management Aptitude Tests they are just shortlisting Criterias....as they can't go on Interviewing 200,000 Folks....

No offences meant...
Give the Change a chance......

@amit:Giving the CAT another Shot?
