This question has been asked before,
please read my reply to one similler query before.!!!
Ill say again that below 98% it is difficlut to predict cos
1. I dont have much data of scores in these range
2. It would be very close as for just 1 mark one would have 1000 of ppl covering in it

Re: Expected percentile based on the CAT score - 14-01-2004, 02:10 PM

Guys adding to this thread...
I gave CAT last year too..
Had 98 percentile in English.
had 87 percentil in DI..
Had 11 percentil in maths.

And had an overall percentile of 84

And one of my friends got 99 in english , 90 in DI and 64 in Maths..His overall percentile score was 97..

I feel to get into the 99 percentile range it is very important to score 90 percentile plus in atleast two of the sections and just clear the cutoff in the third section..

By the way has anyone acored a percentile lower than me in Maths?? If so then do tell me..... Its lonely out here in the top..

Cloud..

Re: Expected percentile based on the CAT score - 23-01-2004, 11:09 AM

Last year and Leak CAT comparison acc to me :

1) VA & RC - Def easier but I think its hard to actually "max" this section. Those who did well last year got 32+ and this time I think maybe 35. But thats about it. I agree that a score of 40+ last year was very difficult and this time wouldnt raise an eyebrow about your alleged links with Ranjit Don

2) QA - Def tougher. Realize that tough questions also throw students off balance and they endup goofing even easier questions. Last year 16 gave you about 93%ile enough for a cut-off, this time I think it might be 13.

3) DI - Def. a lot easier, but there were a few sets interspersed which were tricky. To add to it, there is also the 99-CAT repeat questions, for junta who had solved it, it was a piece of calk, for others it was not something so easily crackable. Last year the cutoff was around 18-19 (v. difficult to say since almost everyone had a score in this range). This time maybe a marginal improvement to 21.

Thus, I think the cutoffs would remain around the same, plus minus a few and the overall cutoffs too wouldnt vary much. But what it does provide us is with a more distributed junta in the 70-90 range. Last year it sort of tapered off with 75, with very, very few people scoring over it. But this time its more balanced with a lot of junta scoring in that range. This means that the distribution load is taken off the 62-67 bracket is taken off (last year almost everyone with 99+%ile was in this range).

Just my observations on the apparent anomoly that PagalGuy pointed out.

Arun

percentile based on the CAT score - 27-06-2005, 12:28 PM

This makes a great reading. I personally fell that a percentile of 90+ in all the three section will make u land somewhere around 89-97 (if u r at the border of 90 in all sec ) In all cases if you score well above 95+ in two of the sections and 85 to 90 in the third i thing u can expect few calls atleast from SP jain...
