Hi Guys,
This is my scene....
I am an Engineering Graduate with 2 years work-exp in a Manufacturing MNC....and I'll be quitting my job next month giving me approx. 4 months to prep for CAT. I was not able to prep. for CAT in my regular work regime as it was real hectic, so my decision of 4 months. I am planning to take up CAT,JMET & XAT. Hoping to get a good score at least in one of the exams.
Cause the odds are heavily stacked against me, I've got a back-up plan as well. The back-up plan is that if I don't get through any of the MBA exams, I will do a course in SAP(PP-Module) and get into the software line.
P.S: I've already had some exposure to SAP in my facility as an end-user. So 2 years work-exp. will hold some ground.
The point is no matter what option you select, be very sure about it and stand by your decision. Be very clear about your goals in life. Put in all the effort that is required to crack the CAT. Always have a good back-up plan.
Regarding explaining to the interviewers about your time-off from work. Your conviction should be able to sweep them away. Be more focussed about cracking the MBA exams rather than deciding what to do if you get through to the interviews.
I will be keep you guys posted on my story....after the MBA exams......

Dear Bschooldreams.. read ur post.
I was in the same boat last year.
I took a daring step
I resigned for my job in the month of july n started preparing for CAT
My Previous attempts b4 leaving job as follows
CAT - 48 percentile
XAT - 52 percentile
TISS - couldn't convert the interview call
After Quitting, i had roughly 3 months in hand to prepare for the exam. Since I already had some knowledge, it wasn' that difficult. I comfortably scored from 85 percentile to 97 percentile (in the last 5 mocks). This has boosted my confidence tremendously.
Alas! I couldn't show the same on that day, 20/11
I got just 83 percentile
calls from GLIM & IMT-N
AWAITING FOR THE RESULT of IMT-N
snap - 78.25 marks
Couldn't convert SCMHRD
converted MPABM of SIIB (did not take it)
MY MENTORS say that I couldn't convert those calls for some of the mistakes that I hav done in the interview stages of respective B Schools.
Form this, i can tell u only one thing
Have a clear understanding n clarity of ur strengths (subject & communication).
Take the circumstances of family into ur account.
I had support from my parents & sisters.
If u want to know more, send me a PM
ATB
Bye

hi.. i have been working for the past one year now.. and seemingly finding it difficult to study.. is it advisable to quit say a month before the CAT to concentrate full time on it and the other exams to follow after that??

Hello everyone. I've graduated this year (2009) with economics. Will I face any problems in the PI if i appear for CAT/XAT etc. this year but don't work in the meantime? Also I'm curious-for people who dropped a year and gave CAT etc. and got through B-Schools, how exactly did they justify their dropping a year? If anyone has been in such a situation I'd greatly appreciate a response. Thanks.
