Pattern of Cat 2006 - 17-05-2006, 12:08 PM

Now as the dust has settled for CAT - 2005 ... with many people in euphoria of getting into IIMs, many still grumbling on there hardluck, many again steaming up for CAT 2006..
The most important question still remains is what will be the pattern of CAT 2006.
Whether it will repeat the pattern of CAT - 2005 or it will make CAT - 2006 more tougher, say only 75 questions in all and every question much difficult to crack..
Or they go for a two tier written test.. one obviosly for eliminating the non serious CAT aspirant and other for selecting the tough guys suitable for under going GD/PI.

But, I feel CAT - 2005 itself was a "CAT paper from hell" they will repeat the same pattern this year also...

What other feel about it...

Because ... for prepairing for CAT 2006 , anticipation of the content of the paper is very crucial ... you need to know .. to Crach CAT 2006 you need ability to crack down on Tough question with accuracy or abilility to solve many average question ...

Any hunches.....

While I understand that there is no point speculating over what the pattern of CAT can be, there is pattern to the changes in CAT.

In general, the total number of question has been reduced from 190 to 90, which allows you more time to spend on each question. Also CAT has gone from being calculation oriented to reasoning oriented.

So dont be surprised to see a further reduction in either the number of questions, or the amount of calculations.

two tier CAT system means ... things might get more subjective in the second tier.

The first tier should be same as CAT is now .. but will definitelyu be simpler.

May be something like maths questions to solve with step wise marking...and an essay GMAT/XAT style.

AFAIK .. there is no speculation allowed .. but thats restricted to exam results and all .. dont see anything wrong here... but still if rules say so .. we can stop the speculation.

Hi guys,

We are not spaculating anything, but just trying to find out what are the different alternatives we can hope to have in CAT 2006. If we can imagine now and prepare for it then those will not be surprises in the real CAT.

So just keep adding your valuable comments ..............................
