give ur suggestions
the earlier the better, dude...if u start now for CAT '07, u can start maybe with consolidating ur fundae in mathematics & also by reading some stuff st an easy pace...but make sure u dont overburden urself from now onwards as u might actually get burnt out by the time u actually need to strt prepn..

i think the ideal time to strt serious prep is in jan/feb or maybe even march...but, as has been pointed out in earlier posts, it varies from person to person...but, i weud advise to take it easy now & join coaching only in jan/feb nxt year...

how much time is required for CAT prep ????.... those out of math for a very long time may think its really really tuf .... am not a person who did really well at the cat .... really never prepared ... work really didn't permit me to prepare well or i didn't plan well ... neways now have been admitted to a decent institute ... so feel eligible to post my comments ....

i seriously prepared for only 3 weeks .... managed a decent score .... (Many will not agree 84 as a decent score ... ) but guess 3 weeks of serious prep (Serious i mean is real serious .. like was preparing for my engg exams ) formerly jus timepass studies ....

serious prep frm june is good enough to make it to the iims .... now dis is my personal opinion ... n one thing that i wud seriously advocate is don't rely much on mock tests ... but go for d actual cat papers .... learnin d tables n cubes n squares wud b fruitful .... no use muggin "n" no of words n formulae as reommended by most classes .....

books dat i really found useful is "Crackin the CAT", "Cracking the Quant", "Cracking the test of logical reasonin" all by an author "Jagdeep Vaishnav" .... he used to write articles in d Education Times .... wonderful book ..... n d best thing is dat he will help u with ne probs u have .....

basic thing is .... regular studies is d mantra ..... 1 hr or 1/2 hr .. discipline will b d main factor dat will decide ur fate .... i wasn't disciplined .. so cudn't make it to the iims ..... n i personally felt the XAT as a much tufer exam dan the CAT ..... neways those r personal opinions .....

All d best for all those takin d CAT this year ......

n don't forget to have all d fun with ur studies ... i firmly believe in "All work n no play makes Tom, ****, Jack and Varghese a dull boy !!!!!!!!!! "

Take care

Cheers

6 months max(if you do more than that you might get bored). 2 hours a day would be enough .

i think only Quant in CAT requires some kinda preparation(if helps if you have mugged all the formulas ). Verbal and DI requires just practice. and now with CAT in hindi, i guess ppl who are good at hindi and not english can breathe easy!

engineers non-engineers hardly matters. its just that engineers had done alot of maths and are comfortable with it to an extent. they dont exactly know the CAT level maths and need to prepare as well.

the last 3 months just practice tests and nothing else.

i think maybe around 3 months of preps...2-3 hrs will be more than enough for a serious attempt....and yes, rather than rely only on the mock papers, u need to have a serious look at previous cat papers....

also, keep in mind, this may vary for ppl...i think the time frame is highly individualistic....so rather than asking for the amount of time needed, u shud identify ur strengths and weaknesses and then decide..

life eej hard....
