Hi Guys, we know that forthcoming reservation in education & private job sector is very bad for our country, economy, society and for us personally too. All the much talked about buoyancy of our economy would go away if we compromise on our quality.
We are not against welfare of backward people but it should be on the lines of making them competent to get the job on their own. Government can do this by providing subsidized education and scholarships etc. Anyway, much discussion over how bad it would be has been taken place at the thread given below:.

Because it is a vote bank issue, howsoever hoarse we may cry, government would not go back if they do not fear any major loss of votes. For this, we have to make people aware of it. Please note that once the law is passed, it would never be taken back. Hence, the only opportunity to stop is coming is to act now.

People from IITs and other cities have staged rallies against it. We must also protest against it in public.

To make it happen, we have to engage other like-minded people also in this protest. For this we can make a group of people who would contact people from different classes like students taking coaching for CAT at TIME, IMS, CL etc, IITs & IIMs, other Engineering Colleges, People from Private sector, organizations like Brahmin Sabha, Aggrawal Sabha, Vaishya Sabha. By doing this, we can make our voice heard directly as well as through media.

This thread is there for protest at Mumbai. We will keep posting here about the progress made in our efforts. People who are willing to join are invited to post their comments.

Guys, there is a news today that EC told the government to put on hold the proposed quota in education till the forthcoming elections are over.

So, now we have some 40-45 days for getting ourselves organised. We can contact other organisations and persuade them to join us. Then on some decided day, all the peple from each city can stage a nation wide protest.

Wearing T-shirst with slogans and standing at prominent place is great idea. In mumbai we can stand in front of Gateway of India, BSE, Vidhan Sabha etc.

someone at a debate on whether reservations should be imposed or not ...put his point in a very innovative and effective way......this is what he had to say!!!

think we should have job reservations in all the fields. I completely support the PM and all the politicians for promoting this. Let's start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 30 percent for OBC, SC/ST like that. Cricket rules should be modified accordingly. The boundary circle should be reduced for an SC/ST player. The four hit by an OBC player should be considered as a six and a six hit by a OBC player should be counted as 8 runs. An OBC player scoring 60 runs should be declared as a century.

We should influence ICC and make rules so that the pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar should not bowl fast balls to our OBC player. Bowlers should bowl maximum speed of 80 kilometer per hour to an OBC player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal.

Also we should have reservation in Olympics. In the 100 meters race, an OBC player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in Government jobs also. Let's recruit SC/ST and OBC pilots for aircrafts which are carrying the ministers and
politicians (that can really help the country.. )

Ensure that only SC/ST and OBC doctors do the operations for the ministers and other politicians. (Another way of saving the country..)

Let's be creative and think of ways and means to guide INDIA forward...
Let's show the world that INDIA is a GREAT country. Let's be proud of being an INDIAN..

Please give this issue its due importance. We can discuss word meanings, movie reviews, bad ads etc etc etc later. But we can not reverse the reservation bill if it once gets passed and implemented.

Do not fail to understand the implications of the decision. Just ask your self

Who will give any projects to Infosys if half of its programmers are there not for their merit but for their caste ?

Answer : No one in this globalised world where competitiveness matters most.

Who will suffer in government and private hospitals if half of their doctors got admission even though their scored less than qualifying marks ??

Answer : Patients. ( I or You or our relatives)

What kind of R&D would take place in India ??

Answer: R & D centre needs best of the brains and they can not come there if reservation is there. Hence, no R &D would take place.


Think this in terms of our whole economy, all companies working here. Either they would shift their base to our neighbour countries (like IT companies will go to China, Russia or Brajil) or they would face shut down. Don't hope for getting any job here after 6-7 years if they succeed in bringing reservations in education and private sector.

Please come forward and show your protest against this retrograde step. Otherwise, five years down the line you'll wonder what happened to the stories making rounds in 2005/6 that by 2025 India will be super power. India can never become superpower if it authorises and promotes under-performance.

We are against any kind of reservations in IITs and IIMs!!!

By now all of us have heard that Indian Government led by ManMohan Singh is going to pass a law for 50% reservation in IITs and IIMs. It is high time that the students in IITs and all other colleges rise up against it and so something. Students who are already in IITs have nothing to lose. They should show solidarity and boycott classes for a day. Decide a day among yourselves (Students have been mailing me and have decided on the 17th of April, Monday) and boycott classes across all IITs and IIMs. When the worker unions can go and sit in front of the Director's office, why can't the students?
If still the govt. does not pay heed, boycott the end-sems. And then, stage a procession in front of the parliament. Mobilise all the college across Delhi and you will have enough people. Hasn't Rang de Basanti taught us something? It is not the time to wait and watch. It is the time to act.
More Ideas on boycott:1. Dont just have a no-show at classes. How many people anyways go to classes? Go to the places around lecture halls in large nos. and put up notices.2. * The current reservation stands at 22.5% (for SC /ST)
* The proposal is to introduce 27% additional reservation for OBCs.
* The proposal has come from the HRD ministry and is yet to appear before the cabinet & houses.
* The election officer has 'stayed' the proceeding due to impending elections, but the issue will resurface once the polls are through.
* The constitution had earlier been amended to allow state governments to enforce reservation in private institutions, this amendment was passed without any hiccups.

Protest against Reservations.

Malicious vote based politics has found one more victim in form of education and private employment in India. This time, Arjun Singh, HRD minister has brought up proposal for reserving seats in higher educational institutes for 27% OBC quota. After this total reservation in educational institutes would go up to 50%. With this proposal, many other unscrupulous politicians have started clamouring for similar 50% quota in private jobs also on the lines of government job. After education, i think that the bill for reservation in private jobs would also definitely come.

Reservations have never helped backward castes in a big way. It has been in place for last 60 years, hence those who availed its benefit in its start are now well placed and command access over all the necessary resources. Children of only these people are getting benefit of reservation though they do not deserve it in moral sense. When we talk about backward class, a picture is painted where we see week, frail, scantily clad people doing very strenuous works in villages and still getting reproach from higher caste. So we set aside some jobs for them. But while taking benefit of these reservations, well to do same caste people come and occupy these reserved posts without any compunctions. This is due to flawed concept of reservation based upon caste and completely ignoring economic and social status of beneficiaries. And it is also one of the reason that even after 60 years of its existence, reservations could not lift status of backward castes.


Instead of reservations, government should have tried to educate all people with more efforts towards people belonging to backward castes. It could have been through the provision of schools, scholarships, trainings, NGOs etc. After getting education, people would have to compete with each other to get desired higher education and jobs. Hence there would be enough incentive to gain more and more knowledge & competency. That would be their proper development in real sense. Bring them to the level playing field and thereafer let them compete. It would have been such a boost to their self respect. Other general castes also would not have any grudges because nobody would be denying them anything. All admissions and selections would have been on merit.

But instead of it, successive governments used reservation as an instrument to garner votes. They never wanted these backward people to become educated and thus would demand their rights and caste their votes in right manner. Our politicians took out Reservation Candy and told them that see this is what we have done for you. Backward caste could not understand the flaw and supported it. But at the time of tasting the Candy, a few "elite in backward" caste comes out from the crowd and gulp down the complete candy. The poor remain standing there for the next candy to come unknown to the fact that even that next candy would be eaten away by "elite backwards".


Apart from above, reservations literally damages the concept of merit. Candidates who score much more still can not make it but SC/ST/OBC candidates easily gets into with much less numbers. How can you reward the meritorious in this way ? How much frustrating it would have been ? Even after getting job, general category candidates see much less capable persons from SC/ST/OBC quota working with them and getting faster promotions. How it would have been felt ? General category people are treated just like Jews in Germany at the time of their holocaust.

As if this was not much that now malicious politicians like Arjun Singh are proposing quota for OBCs in higher education and other unscrupulous people started asking for 50% quota in private job sector. Private sector in India has recently bloomed and now providing most of the employment. But the criterion of selection is Merit only. UPA government is now asking them to select 50% people on the basis of caste. This would run havoc in our nascent private sector. After globalisation, most of the companies depend upon foriegn companies either directly or indirectly. All contracts are awarded on the basis of competitiveness. By forcing private companies to lower their standards for 50% of their employees, government is taking away their competitiveness. I think that if such thing happens, foriegn companies would stop giving their contracts to indian companies and would shift to other countries. Indian companies also like IT,BPO etc would shift campuses to neighbouring countries where there are no such retrogressive laws. At the end, it would be the loss of Indian Economy. All the infrastructure would crumble down and our country would again become a like a pauper it has been during last century.

This would be a loss to every body who is living in India. Even SC/ST/OBCs also would not be able to find employment. At this time when Indian Economy is largely seen as the fastest growing economy, this step is most unfortunate and most deplorable.

Therefore, i urge all people here to organise themselves and show their protest against this. This is the only way through which we can save our county from this vote mongering politicians who do not think of anything else other than votes.
