If u dont have any other good options except SCMS you better join here ..........................the college is pretty strict as I mentioned earlier its very tough to live here.................Then again about accreditations don't bother SCMS still have all national level accreditations as per the information given by college to us which includes AICTE and AIU............................then again fee is pretty high all in all it will cost around 6-7 lakhs to complete whole course including hostel fee and laptop...................When it comes to value for money its always ur attitude is accounted for this kind of courses and if u r ready to do any thing for a good career and ready to sacrifice some of enjoyments then ofcourse u will get a good placement from any bschool in India including SCMS...................more over when u join this course dont give your ears to people having negative attitude, less competent guy always blame institute even if its IIMs or IITs

Re: SCMS Business School, Cochin - 13-06-2009, 07:26 AM

yes..i very well understand wat u trying to say.thank u so much for replying so promptly... i too got good reviews abt the school..except for the strictness n the tuff life there,...also abt the faculty, heard its not very gr8....but the infrastructure is really good, also the placements..

..usually its very tuff to get an nswer frm an scms student as they have no time to check their mails n r always busy with assignments n all.....kudos to ur effort ......

actualy speakng 6-7 investment is ok if u get a god return,,...

btw dev, have u heard of institute of management ,kerala...i wrote the test for it...expecting a seat there....

u think joinin IMK or SCMS is better????can u just ask ur peer friends abt these 2 options????
i wud be really grateful...

Re: SCMS Business School, Cochin - 13-06-2009, 03:29 PM

wot ur saying is right it is always tough to be a active member in this kinda community, when v r undergoing a course like this...............hiii but this time we r very lucky as v got 15 days holiday before our project..........

I admit SCMS is not that great but its improving standards and some hopeful changes are happening quickly .................v got better experience from SCMS when compared to our seniors and its showing signs to adopt good things. Only thing is u need to be very sincere to institute so they will give back you the same...................one more thing you need to be careful is each and every day of ur life in SCMS should be accounted and recored without your knowledge and their perception about you should develop in that predetermined way ...........................So if ur coming here be a good kid and make urself a pet of them ...............finally it end up in excellent placements hahahahah ............so dont worry about placements dude, and things will become better(I mean economy) once you finish ur course and most probably placements should not become a issue by that time...........................

Then again IMK is not comparable to SCMS standard as some of us gone to there and participated a Management Fest conducted by them we knew their level very well(most happy thing happened in that event was we were the champions of that management fest)
As I mentioned above if u r not able to manage to get a seat in Alliance, Christ, Loyola, PSG, Ramayya, or something at that level join here ..............................any thing below this list is also below SCMS also....................

now, some opinion from my part too.
true that scms stands not much low in the b school rankings. but, i wonder how much trust worthy those are.
now, even i thought of applying over there. a few friends of mine told me that the fees is pretty high and that the returns are not that good. still, i went on.
it was ambiguous that there was no information given regarding the fee structure in the institute's website. well, may be we can get the info from admissions office. i went ahead. the lady at the other end of the phone informed that it could be around 4.5 lacs for tuition fees alone for 2 years. anymore information? "other details are given in the brochure". even when my father contacted them, the response was the same.
i also tried to enquire about the total fees thing via email. no reply was seen. during this time, when admission dept should be at extreme vigil, what could be the authorities possibly be doing?
also, the registration fees of 1000 in addition to the 950 rs against prospectus and application form was something fishy. total of 1950 rs just to consider our application? isn't that too high comparing with the other much better colleges?
i did buy the prospectus. that was primarily to find out fees details. and did i succeed? other than the information on certain special fees, fees for id card, fees for placement brochure etc, where was the real needed stuff? no information on tuition fees. nothing regarding hostel fees? is this the way an institute publishes their prospectus?
moreover, i heard that scms is a family money making business. those with lot of money may join there.
i have decided not to go further with scms. and will defenitly not entertain any one to apply there, so that they don't loose their money as i did.
may be i am wrong with the judgement.
kindly correct me if so.

the listing is good
you just have to add all that up including the hostel which is given on a permonth basis

it comes to around 5.9 totally including all costs
