Re: SCMS Business School, Cochin - 25-01-2009, 08:15 AM

hi ppl...this is what i heard from a student studying there in SCMS....

only 16% of 2007-2009 batch is placed
average salary is 1.8lacs/annum
no sign of more companies visiting campus

the following are my suggestions
the fees is around 6lacs n getting placed for a mere 2 lacs/annum doesn't help us at all....n the college management has got a damn strict rules to which we are not used for

Hi everyone!!!!!!
My CAT score is 83 percentile. My 10th - 95% and +2 - 88%.
I am a final year b.tech student of calicut university.
To be very personal, I have to join my MBA this year and dont have time to take a second chance since my parents are busy groom hunting. And also i am asked to join a college in kerala. Please tell me the best colleges in kerala. I am writing MAT on February 1st and hope to get good result. Heard the Rajagiri and SCMS are good. Which is the best and which one should i opt? Is there any other option that i can go for? Please help me out asap. My days r counted:confused::confused::sad::sad::tellme::tell me:

Re: SCMS Business School, Cochin - 01-05-2009, 11:14 PM

good to see all these posts.
now, some opinion from my part too.
true that scms stands not much low in the b school rankings. but, i wonder how much trust worthy those are.
now, even i thought of applying over there. a few friends of mine told me that the fees is pretty high and that the returns are not that good. still, i went on.
it was ambiguous that there was no information given regarding the fee structure in the institute's website. well, may be we can get the info from admissions office. i went ahead. the lady at the other end of the phone informed that it could be around 4.5 lacs for tuition fees alone for 2 years. anymore information? "other details are given in the brochure". even when my father contacted them, the response was the same.
i also tried to enquire about the total fees thing via email. no reply was seen. during this time, when admission dept should be at extreme vigil, what could be the authorities possibly be doing?
also, the registration fees of 1000 in addition to the 950 rs against prospectus and application form was something fishy. total of 1950 rs just to consider our application? isn't that too high comparing with the other much better colleges?
i did buy the prospectus. that was primarily to find out fees details. and did i succeed? other than the information on certain special fees, fees for id card, fees for placement brochure etc, where was the real needed stuff? no information on tuition fees. nothing regarding hostel fees? is this the way an institute publishes their prospectus?
moreover, i heard that scms is a family money making business. those with lot of money may join there.
i have decided not to go further with scms. and will defenitly not entertain any one to apply there, so that they don't loose their money as i did.
may be i am wrong with the judgement.
kindly correct me if so.

Re: SCMS Business School, Cochin - 31-05-2009, 10:31 AM

I am currently doing PGDM in SCMS .......................its becoz of some misguiding comments I am posting now..........................

About the placements almost all my seniours are placed in good companies like 3M, Castrol, HDFC, IDBI,.................etc . Almost 40 companies visited college during 2008-2009 placements ..................that too in tough market conditions................average package was around 2.6 lakhs, highest package 6.8 lakhs

Then again when comes to the exposure we had one week rural camp which was integrated with govt of kerala .............and lot of street plays, management fests, other industry integrated activies twice in a week and personality development programs.......................

Two central ministers visited college during last year and few specialized faculty from abroad.........................

Compared to Rajagiri and Amrita anyway SCMS is far better in overall performance and infrastucture ......................

The only thing tough in SCMS is highly strict culture.........................and u need to follow a lot of complex rules which may take 2 years to understand.............

any way SCMS is a good option atleast in south if u r not able to get admission in IIMs, Christ, Loyola and Alliance
post for further queries
