@orca

You cannot build aptitude That is its definition. Its a natural talent for something...

Well did you follow exactly all of that i wrote
I think you are saying you did not write the weekly mocks

And mostly all prep for CAT is more or less for the Math anyways
I dont think you need to slog out more than 4 hours weekly on the math...
There will be gaps of 2-3 days where you can get some interesting books on math and develop an interest...

Its absolutely crucial to be sure what you can solve rather than do the entire syllabus... In those 40 minutes the only math you can actually solve are the topics you are naturally good and liked while you were studying + some lucky breaks:wink:

And yes those steps were exactly what i did

Now thats a tricky one !! Agreed that I may not be able to become a "Qauantasaurus" even if I try very hard but I can actually improve my aptitude by maybe 20%. In my case that was enough to get me past the QA cutoff.

I did write the weekly mocks, maybe 7-8 TIME mocks(those ultra-tough mocks at the fag end of the AIMCAT series in 2K4) that ultimately ended up destroying my confidence in QA As for your other points, I agree, Divide and Rule approach works best in QA, as for the lucky breaks wallah funda, trust me I know how important those are

PS: Enough gyaan from me !! Let the "14hrs at office" walli junta brainstorm on how to use their team more efficiently.

Hi puys,
1st of all cheers to all guyz writing CAT 4 the 4th time.I too belong 2 the same group.
This is what i did for 2005 preparations and it did result in a betr performance thn the last 3 CAT attempts but not gud nough.

1.Used to commute to office by bike and it used to take 2 hrs of my day(to and fro).Quite familiar to guyz working out of electronic city(blore)jus 2 mnths proir to CAT I left my bike and took the bus.In the morning i used to go thru the word list and prepare for my vocabs in the bus.In the evening i used to sleep while comin back(or again go thru vocabs and GK) and thus were abl 2 recharge my batteries to work out a bit late into night(this time is for QUANTZ and DI).

2.Conserve your leaves and utilize them during the mont of NOV(from 1st till the D-DAY CAT).

3.Take the mock CAT's and utilize the weekend for analyzing the papr, as all aspirants might be doing.

CIAO

I couldn't wait for success, so I went ahead without it.

i think 14 hrs is a bit of an overstatement............... conisdering at least a good 3 hrs are wasted in office in checking mail and chatting.......... plus another 1.5 hrs in food and coffee and gossip............. if u stick to a plan and talk it out wid ur pm.......... 9 hrs is more than enough in a day to meet deadlines.... the other 2 hrs a day casn be spent in cat prep. but i do agree....there are a few days when u have to do overtime in office when client delivery's round the corner. i guess time management is the key for ppl in the IT industry planning to take the cat this yr

See when i said 12-14 hours, I meant this isnt the min and max limits that have been fixed.

Abt the strategy i m following is that gettting up early in the morning and studying and also cutting down on sleep will help.

Adios

When you have nothin better to do,prepare for MBA.

Dubya a.k.a Mr. Bush!!! LOL

cutting down on ur sleep will ruin ur health and you won't be able to grasp anything that you have studied..better to work out an action plan that will help you squeeze in time enough..try devoting 1-2 hrs on weekends and then you may stretch that on weekends!!!!! :robot:

Re: Dilemna - 28-03-2006, 06:14 AM

I am caught in a dilemna of wdr to leave job and prepare full time for CAT, or continue and give CAT simulatneously. CAT 2006 would be my 3rd attempt.
Full time CAT prepration would include honing my other soft skills.

Plz help me out.

The first question that comes to my mind is "Why??". If you are not able to finish your work in 8 "working" hours then I seriously believe that either you are not managing your time probably or you are in the wrong job.

Trust me, 8 hours is the optimum length a person can work in a day without losing concentration and damaging his health. CAT or no CAT. A day or two is okay but you should not allow this to happen to you continuously.

cheers
