well,

The GD topic was given at GIM. (refer to the link given by Srini in the post above!)

Lots of ppl were asked about Pagalguy.com - directly or indirectly. I was asked in the interview who all u know from GIM and wen i came up with the answer telling 3-4 seniors he bounced back asking me whether I know them personally or thru' PG and he started laughing and I joined the party and thassss how my interview was concluded!!!

Also during the another interview, the person discuss about PG.com and to my greatest surprise Interviewer knew many ppl on PG by their ID....!!!

In another incident a person was asked (my groupmate) a question that if you are the owner of PG.com, how would you commercialise it? Tell us about ur plans.

Many more questions were asked to almost all the candidates and from their talk I could figure out that they do follow the forum regularly too...

Way to go, PG!

good morning guys! sorry for the delay in posting.....but u ought to excuse me for that...it all due to those three bottles of beer that I had just to get over with the interview blues....I know I could have had a better interview...but neways... yeah srini said it...it was GIM..I already posted the entire GD postings (well, as much as I could recall) at GIM GD PI experiences!! A huge amount of credit goes to the three seniors at GIM, who kept posting at pagalguy so much that alomost aspirants were aware about it...and consequently the topic came up in an individual's PI. I guess yesterday Prof. Mirchandani thought it to be an apt topic for a GD, and hence we were there discussing about pagalguy.com. Hats Off to PAGALGUY.COM

Re: Pagalguy.com -- now a GD topic for a reputed B-School - 10-03-2006, 09:06 AM

hi! For the convenience of the PGs, so that they don't have to switch threads....I am reposting the GD experience...as posted in the GIM GD/PI experience thread!

"LOL! So much of interest for the gd topic!! cool!! Anyways, the proceedings were similar to those as in other groups...1 min to think about the topic initially and the 1 min by each individual to introduce the topic.... and then an open discussion!

As I was the first one to introduce the topic....I started by introducing what pagalguy was all about! Also, I quoted some factual data about it, viz. more than 53000 members, more than 13000 threads on various topics, institutes and resources, and more than 4 lakh postings, and ofcourse our administratus ignoramus...Mr. Allwyn Agnell. Also, a forum like this is a great boon for the aspirants as it helps them share their problems, a lot of which are common. It also provides a lot of guidance to the test takers, prep resources, etc. Another great point which I emphasized on was interaction with one's prospective seniors.(Hats off to ppl like saurav, sushant, & srini)

Other speakers also introduced in a similar fashion....one or two of them had not heard about pagalguy....one of which actually admitted that, but very elegantly managed to contribute to the discussion in a very eloquent and dignified fashion.

Then, one of the group members very aptly highlighted the flip side of pagalguy....that being the misinformation(the fake scores and postings) which actually tend to demotivate a few ppl...to which I answered with the role of moderators should also be taken into consideration when we talk about these kinda forums. Another member pointed out that these forums take away the surprise element that the colleges tend to test the candidate on, to which I countered as the institute and the faculty are never short of putting forth their 'surprise element', as, even are seniors and their seniors were taken by the surprise element. Another point highlighted was the copying of things like SOP which kills creativity of an individual.

I also pointed out that the groing no. of users at pagalguy.com marks the high level of penetration of the internet among the ppl. However, forums like these clearly have a certain upper middle class bias. Someone also pointed out that the ppl who are not able to take some kind of coaching classes are greatly benefitted by such forums.

Overall, I'd say the GD as above avaerage. i personally enjoyed it."

Now guys....comment!!

Oh!! I did not know this ......!!! thats the one of the reason...why I was surprised once in class when our marketing prof. (who was among the panel members for the interview)told jokingly that I pass more views on PaGaLGuY.com then in class nowadays...(is referred to on my blog too below)

GIM had given a roaring salute to PG and especially Allwin...
I urge Allwin aka Pagalguy to bow and accept.

Is great to be a part of a forum where even B School profs are not excluded.

Allwin i have a suggestion: why dont we start a thread for all B SChool profs.....

or mayube a whole new forum like pagalprof.com (keeping in mind the recent events at PG)

just going crazy as alwys dont bother too much about my suggestions...

Take Care
and once again way to go PG...
