Seniors,Please give us some info on the IT programme...The management is not at all transparent abt this, infact least bothered they are.The answer that the people at the Admissions Office give is that "You will be provided details once u join here"..Height of unprofessionalism that an Educational Institution can exhibit.
One of my friends called up to talk to the Chairman but they say he is abroad. He has decided to take up IIT Madras or Great Lakes now!! Degeneration begine here...
Sorry for all this. But anyone and everyone I know whoz involved in this seems frustrated.I talked to some guys who passed out but they are also not aware. Now the only go is current seniors. It would be great(i really mean it) if someone can hep us out with the prospects of the PGDBM(IT) programme in deference to the existing system in place and the plans of the 'so called' revamp that the institute is boasting of.Please answer the specific questions that myself and Stunner have posted.

it seems there is a lot of confusion regarding the IT program at IMT. let me clear all that up. see the jobs available after MBA IT would be
1 project manager
2 business development
3 IT pre sales
4 quality assurance
5 client relations and needs gathering
so basically all jobs which exist in IT, ITES, Software, hardware, Telecom companies would be available to the IT guys .with regard to placements as i foresee the average salary of FT, Finance and IT would be very close to each otherm maybe 25000 more for FT course, but this is just a estimate salaries of finace may just turn out to be the highest.
Now back to IT- IMT has industrial acceptance across most IT companies due to the MCA course they had been running uptill now( MCA has been discontinued from this year due to some affiliation problems with vidyasagar university, west bengal). But companies like fidelity, ibm , infosys, progeon, wipro, satyam , patni visist the campus each year . so thse companies will come out to the comapnies with fatter pay packets as the students in IT are alraedy BTECH computer science or other computer gradutaes or pple with work ex. obviosly work ex guys willl take more salary because of obvious reasons. PGDBM IT has been started specifiaccly on the demands of many IT companies as each year thse compannies came and couldnt find suitable profiles as alll guys were specialising in marketing.JObs for any course wont be a problem at IMT, IMT has tremendous brand value and industrial acceptance. many of thre alumini are now ctry heads of major MNCs. pple just think IMT has jobs because of chairman kamal nath, this is not true to sustain placements over so many years is not a joke and nobody can force companies to hire frm hre institutes. think logically if that were to be the case then IMT guys would be thrown out of jobs after 1 year , bit that doesnt happen. and guys kamal nath is a very big industrialist andminister so he doesnt have the time and energy to cater to day to day activities in the college or for that matter placements.i am not a alumini of IMT or a senir student i will be joining PGDBM IT this year itself.so guys just chill study well over the next 2 years and ull have grt packets at the end. . and as far as transparency is concerned well cant say much on this . but guys who have got thre second or 3rd option wouldnt have got FT anyways. so need repenting that FT wasnt ur first option.the spelaistaions have also been given according to profiles. so u wont find any coommerce gradutae in IT and no BTECH in fianance.the first list has been taken out on merit and strictly on merit , whtever backdoors will happen would happen in FT, IB and HR. since It and Finace are very spealised courses and they have started them this year so they too need good students to settle this course, and thse 2 are are new courses so IMT will work harder for placemets of tse two courses.
all this informaton i am sharing has been gathered witha lot of hard work and using my networks in IMT and talkin to a lot of HR's in many companies.
so chill IT guys and relax u have got a good course with a lot of opprtunities.
i have no intentions to influence ur admisooins in IMt as i wont be gettin ur fees anyways but just thought abt givin a clear picture.
