charity - proportional to performance!!! - 23-10-2005, 03:25 PM

hiiii.......the countdown for CAT has started.......all of us have prepared well (or atleast pretended to have done so!) ...and may all of us go through.......

yday while travelling through the so called slums of my city, an idea struck my mind....and idea that wont change my life, but maybe give some solace to a few needy.....so here i m taking a pledge that if i crack CAT 2005, i will donate 1000 bucks for the welfare of the street children, who probably wud never know the thrills and apprehensions of taking any test and the joy of cracking it.
But an individual contribution wud hardly matter much...considering the strength of this forum..........if all of us take such a pledge and all those who get calls(from CAT or other MBA tests) donate a similar (or greater amount) for the same purpose....i guess we can do our bit for community service......take a pledge now.......the greater the amount the greater the chance of urself belling the CAT........and the broader the smile on the face of that deprived child......
i suggest we will address our cheques and drafts to any post box no dedicated to this cause and maintained by the PG himself.........
some of u may find this funny..........but just imagine if this becomes a tradition.......
we will spend thousands on treats that wud follow the CALLS........if we spend some for this cause.......it wud hardly matter to us economically but probably much to them.......

so plz join me in this endeavour......

on a 2nd thought, if i get all calls i will donate Rs 2000 for this cause........

mods plz note that if u find this idea worth trying then u have to take the space from me now............its my first thread...i m not aware of the norms......but then i think this doesn't hurt anyone .....and serves a purpose....u can club it with any other thread if u want..............

At some point people need to make the leap from performance based charity to charity as a part of life While I admit this is definitely an interesting idea regarding donating money after CAT, I would like to see how this one turns up

In the meantime, you can always join the PG junta across the cities to join in our community service activities. Check the Touching Lives section of our forum for more info.

Performance-based or non-performance based, the end justifies the means!
At least in this case...
I hereby pledge to hand over 1/2 of my last month's salary to whoever needs it more than me(puys excluded ) if I get ANY iim calls..
If I dont get iim calls n make it to xlri, fms or mdi,I"ll still contribute 1/2 of my last month's salary...
If I get into none of the above, I'll still contribute whatever I can!

Tinkerbell.

thnx yaar......u really made me feel that i have pledged for an amt which is on the lower side.....(considering the fact that u stand a decent chance of getting all calls!) ......
i hope this inspires others too......
but what if u get CAT calls + (xlri, fms, mdi) calls.....will it be half + half ?!

just kidding....thnx for responding to the idea.......actually i want this to be an annual feature on PG........
