cl mock5 - 25-09-2005, 02:27 PM

hey ppl..
i feel CL has done a really commendable job this time.I never had thought of such type of jumbling they would do.I mean all 3 papers-VA/QA/DI in all the 3 sections + 3 marks questions is something no other entrance xam follows.
Anyhow coming back to the scores..screwed section3 religiously.So many blunders.would not clear the cut offs here for sure. anyhow my scores are:
SECTION 1-27.66(should manage to clear the cut offs here)
SECTION 2-22.66(i feel cut offs likely to hover around the 25 mark here)
SECTIOn 3-12 (cut offs likely to be around 20 here.)
overall cut offs-70-75
The gods' of the xam would surely be getting a 100+ definitely.
do post the likely cut offs ppl.

Hello,

I thought the paper was very interesting.At the Hyd centre,they gave us 15mins to think over the paper before we started. 9 sections over 120mins was tough. Your trade-off had to be perfect!!

Am curious to know how people went about this paper. I started with the 3 marks and worked my way backwards reasoning that a little extra time spent wld anyway fetch more marks.

I was on track.

But then I lost it.

Spent a little extra time on a coupla sets and then didnt have enough time in the 1mark section.Thought there were a coupla combined sitters in the 1mark DI that may have fetched more marks .

Pour it in junta.Let's hear abt it!!

very tough and innovative paper this time ... we did not get any time to think about the paper .. and hence ended up scoring low marks

good job done by CL

i tried to lay my hands on the 3 markers .. and luckily got them right but . the 2 markers drained out all my valiant efforts and when i realised that there are easy questions in the first section .. it was too late .. and had no time no attempt ..

thank god it was not the real CAT ... andnow i know how to handle it ...

MOCK CAT 4 : NET SCORE =44.7 ;
PERCENTILE=94.16;

MOCK CAT 5 : NET SCORE = 27;
PERCENTILE= ?????

The paper was a good one...anyone who wasn't too greedy and attempted the paper in a balanced way will do well..Some who were greedy and lucky and managed to get the 3 markers right will rise above all...
I was wondering if anyone noticed that the answer for Q44 was wrongly given as 1 , whereas it should be 4. Also Q70 , it was given as 1, whereas it shoud have been 2.

My score is around 55.

This was a real eye opener. I think I messed it up due to wrong strategy. I attempted all English+VA first, all QA 2nd & all DI last, with sequence in each III>II>I. Also I got confused how the cut-off would be set, topic wise or section wise! It seems to me that giving equal time to each sections would have been a better way to attempt the paper. I ended up with 16.66-I, 16-II, 16-III .

But I'm not willing to lay down and die
Because I'm an innocent man.

it was fun - 25-09-2005, 03:30 PM

I feel that this mock was not even too far from actual CAT... but the purpose of this mock was to realise that dont fix a strategy for actual CAT...

I just managed to score 59(cutoff not clear)
DI-- 22.5 (cutoff clear)
Quant -- 17 (cant say abt cutoff)
Verbal/RC -- 19.5(cutoff not clear)

My Score - 25-09-2005, 03:31 PM

Nice paper this. I really want to see how everybody has done this one though. Nice innovation on the part of CL. Who would have imagined that we are gonna have three mini CAT papers into a single one? Guys, has any body given thought to this that if there are no sub sectional cutoffs, we might even get away with attempting just the sections that we are strong in?

I guess this is a nice paper which reiterates the importance of being able to take change.
and come out well. Well, he are my scores:
Section 1: 17(Missed out here)
Section 2: 22.7
Section 3: 21
Net:60.7
Guess i might miss the cutoff in the first section.

I went about in the usual way with giving equal time to VA, DI, QA. This included a balance of questioned across the various sections of Verbal. This was like 3 markers first, then 2 markers and onto 1 markers. Well i guess that is not really the way that this paper should be done.

Do keep posting the way in which u people have done the paper.

Guys, keep posting it all!
