AICTE withdraws approval to Amity business courses

NDTV Correspondent

Monday, September 19, 2005 (New Delhi):

All students of the Amity Business School in Noida, pursuing full or part time Post Graduate Diplomas, will be transferred to nearby institutes.

The move comes after an expert committee of the All India Council of Technical Education withdrew its approval to both the courses from this academic session onwards.

Action has also been taken against the business school for violating norms set by the Council.

The institute has been found to conduct large number of unapproved courses, some even in collaboration with foreign universities, which require mandatory approval from the technical education panel.

The institute has also been charged with charging exorbitant fee from students.

This is what happens when a B school lays higher emphasis on physical rather than academic infrastructure. This is what happens when quantity is prefered over quality. Thank God I chose GIM over Amity.
May God bless the current PGDM students at Amity. Although it had a not-so-good reputation, getting into PGDM at Amity was never easy.

Need For Csr - 20-09-2005, 01:35 AM

just think of the future of the students.what would be their minset?i think this is a case of sheer avarice brought to daylight.there is a strong case against more stand alone Bschools for their primary motive would be profiteering.

we need more corporate houses to run Bschools as part of their corporate social responsibility folloeingthe lead of ISB or Nirma.only this can end this profiteering.otherwise we would have more and more IIPMs,rai universities and icfais sprouting up like mushrooms all over india.it would spell the doom of quality business education.

Could you please translate that to English No, I am not talking of quality or any of those other holy parameters...I just wanted to understand the concept of CSR, how it fits in with B-school Education and where ISB/Nirma fit in the entire picture....

Cheers

TAKE HOME: dont get fooled by bschool ads - 20-09-2005, 07:08 PM

also shows how gullibe students easily get fooled by flashy ads in the craze for an MBA...students should use their intellect when applying to dubious schools...any school really worth its salt should not need full page Ads and centrespreads to "prove" itself and attract students...its only the hollow ones that need to do that...and a case in point is AMITY

Bye,

this decision of AICTE is unjust to Amity - 20-09-2005, 07:08 PM

Dear Pgites,
Amity was providing decent placements to its students and far better than some university's structure .MBA

Moreover like IIMs and FMS they (AMITY) is not getting tons of money from govt to keep the fees atrificially at low level

thanx
cheers

This is pretty serious man...I wonder what must be going thru the minds of all those who ended up joining amity..... now they will have to settle for some other bskool.....

but there is a lesson in this...all the aspirants...pls verify some info abt the bskool b4 u join....dont go only by the ads guys.... ask around with the current students, alumni etc to give u a right feedback.... if possible...visit the place and try finding out for urself abt the infra/profs etc....

cheers

puneet

damn serious.. - 20-09-2005, 10:48 PM

as puneet said...i wonder wot must be going through the minds of people already there or even the alumni...??/
one of my friends was involved wen RAI crashed...
it ruins u...
but wouldnt it have been better for AICTZE to rather than close it down...maybe give some time to get inline with the regulations...
coz looking at the ads that amity keeps on spouting...the infrastructure they have is absolute...

also the point about ads...there seems to be a trend rite..??? the colleges with the biggest ads seem to be shutting shop....
if thats true then IIPMs arindam chaudhary must be sweating in his pants rite now...
(all **** guys......maafi)
check out www.jammag.com ...jam gets to the truth behind IIPMs tall claims
