Percentile :- 99.665...should I be happy??
AIR :- 112

a score of 14.68 in quant puts my section percentile at 98.6, so prob the cutoffs assumed are for 99 percentile in each section...seems possible
Why "specifically" do you ppl think the percentiles are inflated??? anything solid??

n morrison...had mailed ya i.e pm...chk it out

they might have made a couple of mistakes initially, but all the ranks & percentiles match to the same base, about 34k students, so I don't see anything wrong..:whatthat:
And a base of 34000, esp for a free test advertised in papers n colleges doesn't sound too much
I totally agree with u dude.
There is no point in criticising PT as the students base was actually 34000+ and thats y it took a long time.

Thsi number was comparatively lower in CL free Mock and Time Free Mock.

Anyways for all the HI-FLIERS , Remember that IIMs have 1100 seats(likely to increase this year) and not 100(in case only HI-FLIERS make it) and also interview calls sent are around 1500+ So let others also enjoy their success

Also if u say student quality sucks ...believe me, quality of students taking CAT(arnd 1.5 lacs) will suck more

So rest in peace .. and CONGRATS for performing well

No intentions of starting a controversy.
BTW I am not a PT student

Hi people..

I thnk we are discussing more abt PT policies, thier internet speed etc and less about the paper itself.

We should rather be discussing how cud scores have been maximized in the paper( like someone who has analysed the paper cud post the easy questions and traps in every section)..and diffrent strategies.

I think that this %ile doesnt matter at all (FYI, I had calculated 52.17 but my ans sheet was rejected..dunno why). Unless congratulating ourselves or splitting hairs abt scores and percentiles..we shd beter concentrate on how 1 cud have performed best in the paper..and what were the mistakes made.

I wish to post more, but exams are going on..will try to put up decent analyses abt other pracCATs later.

Bye.

Right Ho, Snova !!! Lets drop this percentile discussion as of now...If you are unsure about the base, just look at your absolute rank & decide where you stand...
I'll be analyzing the paper tonight or tomorrow...will post on that soon....If the 70'ers have already analyzed, do post your review too...

PracCAT 1 Analysis & cribs - 11-09-2005, 03:46 PM

ANALYSIS:---

Section 1 : DI

All the 2-pointers were extremely short & simple with the exception of 2 of the 4 separate question on reasoning...The long LR on the jersey nos was a piece of cake...unfortunately, it looked forbidding during my actual attempt & I left it..
The 1-pointers were also simple, but the population growth rate question was relatively difficult...
overall about 25 of the 38 questions were absolute sitters

Section 2 Quant

My strategy was to give value for time..spend more time on 2-pointers..I got 7 2-pointers right with 100% accuracy...but spent too much time here & did really bad in the one-pointer section...didn't get enough time to see all questions..should have attempted atleast 5 sitters, which I didn't even look at..
the sitters here in 2-pointers were - 59,60,61,62,69
in 1-pointers - 39,41,42,49,51.53,54,55

Section 3 Verbal

I found the section a bit tougher, with the options being a bit closer than usual...scored only 25...some of the RC & summary questions seemed a bit suspect, with none of the inferences following logically from the facts
Attempted 3 passages & all VA ( around 41 attempts )...low accuracy here compared to what I usually have in this section...I have this tendency to attempt everything, so need to attempt summary & parajumbles judiciously, while attempting 1 more RC or all of em

CRIBS:

My AIR rank has magically increased with time..initially it was 112, now its 75...But my score remains the same!!!! How the hell is that possible??? My ranks & percentile in individual & overall has also improved...my percentile is now 99.77 with 52.37 marks.....
I was initially giving the PT guys the benefit of the doubt...But now, its Either major league mistakes, major league manipulation or ultra crappy student base...take your pick !!!
I was thinking about joining PT after the first test, but then didn't...in retrospect, seems like a great decision...I'd have got false confidence & taken things lightly...

>>>>>do pitch in with strats n ur analysis of the paper too...avoid trolling on the merits & demerits of PT
