Hey Sam,
Yep, Infy took freshers and trained them in ERP (SAP,Peoplesoft, EAI, SCM, Oracle) and i was one of them.
And the selection criteria is 'Business Requirement'. There is no other criteria. I was trained in SAP so i can tell you from that perspective. The selected candidates are trained in the various modules of business like Finance, Logictics, Supply Chain Management, PP etc and finally in ABAP (Advanced Busines Application Programming).
There was no special interview at any stage before getting trained. Hope that helps.

Hi Abhishek,
Can you be more specific with regard to the type of training you shall be given? As in, will the training be Functional or Technical ?
Well, If you are looking for a profile in Marketing and Finance, then training in Sales and Distribution Module of SAP will make sense and more so since you shall be into Functional SAP.
More after you answer my question

I am not really sure about this, but i know a few folks working in IT Sales in my company and all are from MBA background. And IT business development is altogether a different aspect of IT and I think it has very less to do with any technical aspects and is more into getting business from the client to the company.

Well ...for how long is this course ?
From what you have quoted, i understand that it should only be a primer on ERP and SAP systems. I dont think this will be an exhaustive course. But if it extends for over a month or so, i reckon, it would be a techno-functional course. And yeah, since you are looking out for a profile in Marketing-finance, check out if they give you some training in SD module of SAP.

Hey Guys,
Talking about SAP and various institutes charging loads of money for respective courses, I'd like to talk about the institute I'm studying - C-DAC Noida. Its reputed, Government R&D Organization; it runs two courses specializing in ERP and SAP - a) Short Term (25 Days or 1 Month approx.) - For people with Functional Experience in their respective modules chosen for specialization; b) PGDSEM (Post Graduate Diploma in Software Enterprise Mgmt) - A 1 yr Program, equivalent to a capsule MBA.
For more details, show me some queries, and I'll fire back...
Cheers,
Nikhil

Hi all,
I want to a little guidance from you all. i have done my engineering (Elec & Instrumentation) & then MBA (Majors:IT & Minor: Mkt). I dnt have any work experience. I am interested in SAP, but everywhere there is a requirement of a work-ex before entering in any domain.
i've heard that siemens has a certification, after completing which there can be a job prospect.considering i have no experience of SAP ,is it right to do certification directly or not.
plz reply.
Thank you
