Hi

I got into IIM-C this year and waitlisted no8 at IIM-A. However, I chose to go for a job as analyst at DSP Merrill Lynch at Mumbai in their Investment Banking Division with the plan of going for an MBA abroad later. There are more reasons that I don't want to go into here...(but EVERYBODY i've met says i am an idiot for doing this; including my parents!)

Does anybody have any experience with this kind of post? How good a learning experience is it? Any details would be highly appreciated.....I haven't been able to find anything out. Maybe someone who's gone to work there as an associate could help?

My brother is an associate DSP ML . He's from IIM L. u can speak to him if you'd like to. have u just joined ML? coz u both may already know each other..lemme kno.

thanks a lot for replying. i will be joining on the 1st of june; so i guess i'll find out. i am just a little eager, that's all. but i think i would not like to contact somebody presently in the company now....thanks anyway.

hey rajeev,

he joined ML in March 04. he too was a fresher from BITS Pilani and went on to IIM L. he joined ML after 2 yrs at a management consultancy (accenture).
do u stil hav the option of joinin IIM or the last day for payment has passed?

If u have faith in urself and u know what u r doing, no probs. If u have taken the decision stick to it and make best out of it. Dont listen to what ppl say do what u believe.

After ML u'll have a pretty good chance at some big b-school abroad.

the last day for iim-cal has passed. if i get through to iim-a then i will have time till june 30th, i think. but taking that up (if it comes) would require that something really bad happened in the first month here. anyway, i am just very curious; that's all. i guess i'll meet your brother there.
