Hi Ravi
You can judge a b-school based on certain basic criteria:
Faculty: credentials of the faculty, international exposure, have they taught at Leading B-schools, how much industry consulting experience do they have?
Course Content: While most B-schools in India have a reasonably similar course content since that is monitored by the government, there are some like ISB which have tried to have a curriculum that is more in line with the international standards. The course content at B-schools needs to be constantly upgraded. Does this happen with the institute you are looking at?
Batch size: The batch size makes a difference for the Teacher-student ratio. Also institutes with large batch sizes have faced a lot of difficulty this year at the time of placements because of the recession, as there weren’t enough offers to cover all the students..
Industry Network: At the end of the day, placements are at the top of most candidates mind when they apply to a B-school. Any tie-ups the institute may have with companies will make a big difference to placements. So it helps to find out if the B-school has any tie-ups with corporate and the nature of those tie-ups…
Location: While this is not a very important factor, it is nice if it is close to, or in a metro.
I had spoken to one of their counsellors earlier this month and he talked to me at length about the school. He sent me the prospectus and a file which detailed some benefits to students of their industry consortium. I personally found the concept pretty interesting. The fact that they have such a strong corporate backing (their industry consortium and the role played by the companies right from the beginning of the admissions process) definitely is something that I haven’t seen in any other b-school in India. Also, the course content since it is being designed by people from the industry should be progressive. Even on other parameters such as faculty, location, and batch size, I think it’s quite good. The only facility which they don’t have as of now is a hostel.
Maybe someone else can give some more inputs...
I was quite interested in applying, but I got a call from Nanyang before, so I'm going to Singapore..

This page provides a good amount of info about SOIL school: School of Inspired Leadership
Personally I don't think it is prudent to join this school, as it is an upcoming school & as of now & takes in any Tom, **** & Harry.
Moreso it has 1 year programs so u cant expect decent placements from it in this economic scenario, when ISB is also struggling.
(Disclaimers: This is my PERSONAL OPINION. Dont sue me!)
