FRM 2009 Aspirants-GARP - 26-01-2009, 07:43 PM

Hi everyone,

I am starting this thread as a common thread for FRM applicants for November 2009. The results of Nov 08 were declared about a week ago and registration for next exam would start from 3rd March 09.

I call all the applicants to come in and join and share any kind of study material details/strategies/information/updates etc.

Here is the link for the GARP website, which could be logged on for more details.

GARP : Global Association of Risk Professionals

I would also request the test retakers,if any, to help newbies like me for the same.

Thanks a lot and all the best to everyone,

Ankit

Thanks Andy,
i have already posted a link in the thread that you have mentioned. Plus, i thought its better to have a seperate fresh thread as its not easy for anyone to go through 95 pages of info at one go. That could serve as the mother thread with all the advices and suggestions.
Just my thoughts.

Ankit

One can start preparing for FRM with FRM Handbook. The FRM Handbook changes a bit with new edition. To my knowledge they are going to come up with new edition this year..(found that on Wiley website).

The 2009 material and curriculum will be available after some time. I have started preparing the Quants section which as an engineer will require you only 2-3 days.

Apart fromt he Handbook(2009 edition awaited), is there any other sort of study material to be followed? Does anyone have any idea about the Past year papers or sample papers etc?

Thnks

Re: FRM 2009 Aspirants-GARP - 30-01-2009, 09:52 AM

Hi all, I m also planning to give FRM this November. Just cleared CFA Level I this December.

I had a doubt regarding the work experience requirement required to receive FRM certificate. As I am working in IT side of an investment bank and profile is similar to Business Analyst, but my designation is still that of a Developer. Just went thru GARP site but it only mentions designations eligible for certificate. With 4 years of such exp, wud I satisfy the requirements.

Ne idea? or sending resume to GARP is the only way to confirm?

The required work ex should be in any of the allied financial fields. I beleive your profile is on a border line case.....Your work qualifies you for being a FRM, while your designation and deptt does not. Best way out, as already suggested by you is to mail them ur CV..

Regards,
Ankit

The 4th edition is the latest one.. However, the Wiley website gives the information about the 5th edition which is expected to be out in May 2009. But, the content doesn't change much from edition to edition.. I have compared the 2nd and the 4th edition. So, if you want to start preparation, you can use the 4th edition. I will suggest to start studying from the soft copy or if you can get the hard copy from some friend or anywhere then use it and when the latest edition is out, you can buy it.
