You really don't have any work in your college do you?
On a serious note, this ain't a general fish market where we discuss daily life! Vasundhra, you got any queries, put them out! This *Infy life* could be Pm-ed!
( take this in the good sense)

Dont take it to heart. When I say activity on thread I dont mean for the sake of it we should follow anything. If we start sharing experiences @ infy then the whole and sole purpose of this thread dissolves. And also we dont have enough time to share our experiences. Sorry, but try to realize that we are not in college or school, we are working.
P.S.:- Thanks for congratulations. I am expert at pagalpan.

good question, but its infy policy, there are lot of policies they make which we dont seem to understand, but its rules. maybe they change their set of questions once in every 9 months, maybe they dont want u to keep answering their tests, so as to avoid overcrowding of applications. consider someoene writes the test today, does not clear, he will be writing in the next test, tht test will have new applicants plus the ones who did not clear last test.
anyways im not sure why they do it.
regards,
bharath

All software companies have that policy, but the common period is 6 months.
It's general. If they don't keep that policy, there wouldn't be much value of the test at all. People would just give it again and again, many time without being serious.
Infy has a lot of *strange* policies, it doesn't allow gate-crashers to walk-ins, you need to apply earlier. People with work-ex >6 months are only considered as laterals, lesser than that, you become a fresher, etc etc...

Hi sravvya(hope i got the spelling right)
u had asked for someone to describe the general routine in infosys right? so i am going ahead with giving this description of a routine in infy training centre in mysore.
8.00 AM:- the phone in the room rings, my friend calls me from his room(i hope u guys know tht we are given rooms with a phone), asks me to wake up, its time to get ready and go to GEC.
8.15 AM: i am still in bed, convincing myself tht i can sleep for another 5 minutes.
8.30 AM: figure tht i am well past the convinient time to get ready, force myself out of bed, get into the bathroom.
8.45 AM: after scrubbing and rubbing for 15 min i get out, get into something tht is not ironed, look into the mirror and figure tht what i am wearing badly needs to be ironed.(dont start imagining things  )
8.50 AM:after ironing for 5 minutes, slip myself into the outfit, grab a pen tht i threw somewhere last night and run down.
8:55 AM: had to miss breakfast for the 4th day in a row, cycling hard to reach GEC.
8.58 AM: park the cycle in the parking lot, run over the lawn, jump over the "no walking over the lawn board" and reach the pavement, join the herd of ppl getting into GEC.
8.59 AM: just magage to swipe in before 9.
9.01 AM: reach class
9.02 AM: switch on the monitor of my comp, and start checking my mailbox, which is by now full of worthless forwards.
10.02 AM: after spending one hour reading the forwards in such a way tht the faculty does not realise im starring at the screen, i decide to concentrate seriously on whats being taught
10:30 AM: sleeping with my head resting on the table.
11.00 AM: fac gives a coffee break
11.15 AM: get back to the class after chatting for 15 minutes
11.20 AM: mail checking and forwarding
12.00 PM: start to wonder when this fac will let us for lunch
12.15 PM: angry at urself for having skipped breakfast, and chatting during the 15 min coffee break.
12.30 PM: fac finally lets us for lunch, but says tht we have to be back by 2.00 PM cause there's lot's to be covered(does it matter)
12.40 PM: reach the point outside GEC, from where if u go straight u go to FC1, take a left and u reach FC2, and a right turn will take u to FC3.
12.45 PM: argue as to which food court to go for lunch.
12:50 PM: go to the dhaba just outside the campus.
1:00 PM: find that dhaba is full of infoscions disappointed with quality of food at infy
1:15PM: find place to sit
1:20 PM: one guys says tht he will have panner butter masala, other guy says he will have fried rice, the third says he will have butter nan
1:25 PM: we order dal and rotti for all
1:50 on our way back to infy
1:55 PM reach the entrance of GEC and start to wonder if we should enter.
1:56 PM we get into a heated argument tht this module thts being taught is a very important one and attending it is very useful
2:00 PM on the cycle back to our respective rooms, to have a good nap
2:15 PM reach room, call each other and confirm that we would be waking up at 4:30
3:00 PM watching some old repeat episode of caroline in the city tht i have seen 10 times, instead of sleeping
4:00 PM finally decide to sleep
4:30 PM phone rings, friend says tht we need to get back before 5 to GEC so tht we sign in the attendance sheet.
5:15 PM get off from bed, run to or rather cycle to GEC.
5:25 PM slip into the class and sit in my place like i've been there the whole day.
5:28 PM frantically searching for the attendance sheet
5:30 PM find it, and sign in all the four columns,(guess infy started the elctroninc attendance system for this)
6:00 pm already spent half and hour trying to understand the first problem in the assignment for the day
6:02PM decide to take help from neighbour
6:05 PM ctl-c ,ctl-v from his assignment
6:15 PM on the way to the bowling alley
7:30 PM disappointed tht we missed the top score again, but promise ourself tht we would acheive it tomorrow
8:00 PM decide to go to the dhaba for dinner
8:15 PM standing in a long line in FC1 for meals
8:30 PM reach the end of line and get the meals served
9:00 PM after a slow dinner, we head to the juice centre
9:05 PM disappointed that chickoo is crossed for the 3rd consectutive day
9:07 PM gulp down mango juice, while singing songs
9:25 PM on the way back to GEC, mentally prepared for a long night
9:45 PM playing counter strike over the lan, instead of studying
10:15 PM some studious dude, reminds us tht we need to study
10:30 PM going thru the assignment tht i "ctl v" from my friend to try to understand something.
11:00 PM after figuring out 25% fom the assignment decide tht its time to sleep, so tht i might not have to miss break fast the next day.
11:15 PM really sleepy, and convincing friends tht its better to leave
11:30 PM still convincing guys
11:45 PM reach outside GEC and suddenly our sleepiness vanishes
12:00 PM sitting by the pool, discussing things ranging from politics, girl in the next class, and the hootagalli village(thts where infy is located)
2:00 AM leave for room
2:05 AM reach room.
2:10 AM put my pen in some corner of the room, tht i by default have to forget the next morning.
2:15 AM set the A/C to 20degrees and slip into the neatly tucked and made bed by the house keeping guys.
8:00 AM the phone in the room rings, my friend calls me from his room, asks me to wake up, its time to get ready and go to GEC.
8.15 AM: i am still in bed, convincing myself tht i can sleep for another 5 minutes.
...
..
.
And the cycle continues
disclaimer:
My stay of 4 months in mysore has been one of the most memorable experinces of my life. no where before have i seen myself under so much of pressure, yet so many facilities available tht u can sail through all of the obstacles.
there have been days when we have slogged, stayed up till 3 in the morning coding, reading, understanding, and off course enjoying ourself.
the description i have given by no way means to say tht i am mocking infy training, as far as i see, its the best corporate training anybody can even dream of undergoing.
three cheers to GEC, and infy mysore
regards,
bharath
