Hi guys,
so any consensus, on how much the cut-off will be?
Any ideas about the internal/sectional cut-offs?? when are the results likely?

The response to the cutoff has been mixed. A senior person I know who is an evaluator at CFA Institute feels it will be lower this time, since the quality of questions are much higher (basically the closer the alternatives are, CFA regards it as a higher quality question). Technically, they are expecting a lower cutoff but also a lower pass rate (as compared to 35-40% for L1 in previous years). But this is their pre-exam analysis. Only the post exam analysis will tell about the real scores and pass rates.....!
Results will be out by July 28th 2009!

Hi all,
the general consensus goes that the paper was pretty easy...i completed the morning sesion in 2.5 hrs and the afternoon in 2 hrs...i don't exactly know how to interpret that...even the ethics part (which normally is the catch)was not as confusing as was in the cfa books and schweser material...i am very curious...as in, is there a trick here?...coz if every1 found it crackable, so the cutoff can be pretty high and lesser pass percentage that 30-35% as in the previous exams....???

You got it right on the mark! The thing was too easy...! And thats whats scaring a lot of people into thinking that for a lot of answers, they may have walked into unseen traps....!
Personally, I prefer to wait and watch although everyone would have a different take on it. Yes, the pass percentages may be reduced and that what i have been hearing! That would mean that for instance, if you got a 70 and did not fall in the top 25% (which was top 35 - 40% earlier) you would not pass......! But I would like to stop giving my judgements here and wait for the results......!

Hi Amit
I am planning to go for CFA and cant decide whether to appear for level 1 in dec or try in jun. i am a BA graduate so its a new thing for me. please advice if it is practically possible for me to clear Level 1 with just 4 month preparation. i am a full time employee but i can devote 3-4 hours daily. Is it good to join a coaching institute, if yes than what all are the options in Delhi.
Regards
Sobbey
