Re: CFA Level 1-June 2009, anyone ? -

Hey Puys,
Have been following the thread since a long time. I gave CFA level 1 in december and I doubt if I would pass the exam , as its not that easy with work. Well few Answers to the queries and my two cents.... 174 Days from Today !!!!!
1. Average age of a CFA charter is 31 ( Source from the CFA institute )
2. You get a charter only after you have 4 years of workex after completing level 3
3. You need not be a finance wiz kid to crack CFA just follow the clock and realize time is your friendly enemy
4. There are absolute NO taxes in whatsoever form including VAT custom etc on the material you receive
5. About the calculator, dont believe in sceintific calculator go get a Texas BA II Professional. That is the best bet
6. Passing marks ; Well Just prepare forget the passing marks you never know how well the other person is prepared. So just aim to be well prepared and don' think about passing marks , atleast from my judgement you have to answer atleast 140 right out of 240
7. Also the answers are very close and this time in June 09 with three choices on the card, well dont be surprised if you see differences in decimals !
Please shoot in case of any queries
Also please don't ask me any questions on what was asked in the Exam. All I can say is that don't miss anything. Even not a ",". Just study and practice. Also Its 6 hours straight exam so be sure you get used to sitting at one place for 6 hours ( 3 hours each of 2 sessions )

Hi
One another unwatned piece of advise please don't buy HP calculator as I found it to be too tiring and cumbersome to handle, when compared to the BA II Professional. I tried all the calculator to suite my need. In India you can get the calculator from Cranes Software. They send you the bill with the VAT etc , so you have an year warranty also.
For Cranes Software just google and that should be sufficient

Thanks again,
As you have already given the exam so you must be aware about the study mterial. Is Scweser notes are enough or we should go through the official study material as well in detail.
I hope I am not bothering you a lot.
Regards
Amit

More than sufficient if you follow it completely. Also , be sure to complete the material atleast a month in advance. And concentrate on Volume 1 & 2 , the 2 supplement books. Also don't ignore the comprehensive problems, as they help a lot
Just in case I don't pass I plan to follow the above :new_bat_angel:
