Its been 4-5 months since I last posted on PG.com.. but it seems like ages already! Such is the impact of being out of touch with PG during a CAT season

Anyway, I hope I m back.. and joining the June '09 L1 CFA bandwagon too..

I have registered but would pay around early Dec.. aiming to get the material before Christmas-New Year holidays.. hope it won't be too late :

Would most likely take the test at Kathmandu.. I guess Visa reqd everywhere else.. those in the know of things, plz correct me if I m wrong

i am also preparing for CFA L1 09.
looking for notes to study as i will get myself registered in jan 09 so i will get the books in jan only.
and for kathmandu and Nepal,u don require visa,rest everywhere u need visa.

Hi all,

New to the forum.
If possible please answer my queries below.

Plan: My friend who cleared L-1 exam (really bright chap) put in 40 hours post-mba to clear the exam.
He recommends 250 hours study time (as I dont have MBA) and only going through Swester notes will suffice to clear the exam. So I am thinking of starting studies in Feb. I do trust this guy but need to know your views.

Q.1 Is the timeframe sensible as per you guys? I am academically strong but not a prodigy.
Q.2 Using only Swester notes - enough or not ?
Q.3 Location : Do we have any Nepal seats available. If not Nepal, what should be choice-2.

Yes, i am also in the bandwagon. Although i have not registered yet but will do it soon. However, i already have notes that i got from one of my friend who cleared the CFA L1, so i am starting the preps asap. And for Nepal, as far as i know, you do not need a visa as one of my friend has gone onsite to Nepal without a visa.

you are 27 age and studying in MDI,so how will u manage your CFA.L1 09
you got thru MDI this year ,so till date were you working?

Hi all,

I am new to this thread. I too would be registering for the CFA L1 in June '09. As I am new to finance, I thought I'd better go through some topics in the Schweser notes before I actually go on to register.

Could someone tell me whether seats for Colombo Test Center would be available if i register sometime around Jan end ? Are the number of seats in a center limited ?

Or, is there any way i can check this out?

I m not really clear about ur ques.. what has being 27 + studyin in MDI gotta do with managing CFA L1?!
FYKI, good number of MBA students (Fin enthusiasts) take up CFA during MBA, as somehow acads and work life are different ball games altogether, and its really tough to find time for such pursuits (unless already begun) early on, once u start working in the Fin domain
Yes, I got thru MDI this yr and I have 28 months' Equity Research work-ex.. and even my colleagues (mind u, with Equity Research exposure) cudn't do justice to their potential at CFA at every outing, simply b'cos the work didn't allow much leeway for preps et al
