gre vs cat - 10-06-2008, 08:18 AM

well for the intros....my first post and i hv heard a lot abt this site.i am pursuing chemical engineering, will be starting my third year.now i had put my sights on doing ms from a good us sniversity and am already on my way to give gre anytime soon.apart frm the interest in the field, my other prerorgative was to study and settle in us(not a chauvinist at all:wink1.but lately some doubts have crept in my mind and its quite imperative to get rid of them to keep the flow of motivation going.
1)is it very difficult for an indian to get a job after doing ms from a top 10 university, what are the qualms associated?
2)how is the placement, salary and life compared to someone doing an mba from a top b-school here.
3)i am nt averse to mba bt i have inclination towards staying technical as well.is it still the time to wait and analyse
4)i will easily land up into a good job with nice salary(gold medal in second year:wink1:,silver in first),so is the idea of pursuing ms still worthwhile in order to enhance my profile.
if the post presents a confused mind then i say that is the case for like one month.anticipating suggestions.
cheers.

There are ample of jobs for a person who is qualified enough, so there should be no doubt whether you will land up with a satisfactory job at the 1st place.

Someone from IIMs and listed in top IRs in respective institute will probably get a almost same role when compared with an above average guy from Columbia or GSB Chicago.

It depends on your personal taste, which will help you in deciding where you actually wish to work, and which Industry provides glamour to your eyes!

There is no comparison between CAT and GRE coz one who wants to prepare for GRE should have interest towards technical side either it be computer, biology, psychology etc... but one who wants to prepare for CAT should be one with managerial aptitude and interest.

So better if you compare GMAT with CAT not GRE

All fun & studies for MBA, MS aspirants
