HR Recruiting - Freshers getting lakhs in incentives every month??? - 07-06-2008, 04:17 PM

This question is for those people who are working as HR Recruiters in IT/ITES companies or whose friends are working as HR recruiters.

And i sincerely apologize if this topic is already discussed in some other thread. Either, give me the link of that thread or add some new information in this thread - Thanks

Now here is my query.
What i have heard from few of my friends in IT industry that as of now HR Recruiters are making very good money in IT and ITES companies. Their basic salary is still 12000-15000 but they are getting cash incentives of Rs.25000 per recruit. So, even if they recruit 4 people in a month, they are make 1 Lakh over and above their basic. And young boy and girls, in their mid-twenties have bought houses and cars through their incentives.

Now, is that so? Means, is it over-hyped or they do get so much in incentives? And is to so easy to recruit 4 people in a month? or more than? Whats your take on it.

I have taken my specialization in HR and IT, and although my interest is in IT, and HR was just a substitute because i didn't wanted to take marketing or finance but now i would be seriously thinking about taking the jobs of a technical recruiter after i complete my PGDM

Please expedite. Is it easy to get 4 people in a month (i would be more than satisfied if i get even 4 in a month )

And do they actually Rs.25000 per recruit ? Is it so easy ?
And after how many months of training you are eligible to recruit people?

Come on, i can't believe it.

Well, thats the fear  going in my mind. As we know a full fledged US recession is just around the corner. God knows best, but may be 6 to 24 months more. Once US economy collapses, it would also spell the doom of Indian IT and ITES industry. Considering this scenario, I am skeptic about my choice.

The figures which you have given may be correct bu it depends. The consulting organisation which sends the candidates to their clients for recruitment gets one month salary for their effort, so if you are working for a recruitment consultancy, then your consultancy will get one month pay of the candidate they have recruited.

From that one month pay they will give you 20% as your incentive. So in essence to get 25000 for one recruitment as you have mentioned, you have to get a 12 lacs/annum candidate placed, that will be equivalent to a middle level manager.

One more thing is that these incentives are to be given over and above your basic targets. So considering everything its not a lucrative job. Rather very mundane.....ofcourse if you deal with placing higher level managers then it becomes good.

How do i know all this????? because my friend used to work in an consultancy and quit in 2 months....

I dont want to be a doomsayer but I didnt really see much of a future for IT and ITES (includes BPOs and KPOs).

There will always come a time when such outsourcing will be eventually outsourced to the South East Asian countries. Top of my mind, China. China is catching up really fast - in terms of infrastructure and English. China has an over aggressive strategy and with Government aid and subsidies has already seen outsourcing of manufacturing and electronics.

With the US recession in place, IT industries are bound to get a hit. Add to that an eventual slowdown in outsourcing it could spell trouble.

I dont really see the point of identifying with such a work profile. I mean it sounds and paints a rather vivid image of the job as a sales one. And I bet the sales one are not as strenuous as this one. Looking at the odds of recruiting such people (as bakar puts it) would be difficult.

Of course this is my thoughts, with no input from the HR field whatsoever

Cheers.

Forget about being a doomsayer, but what u have said is absolutely true considering the current socio-politico-economic situation world over. I have been doing research on these stuff since a long time and i could say for sure that we have to witness the worst time in the days to come.

Forget about China, it can temporarily go to China but what after that? Nothing after that, total economic collapse. :nervous:

Well, it would be difficult to comment about UK, i won't say Europe because i feel European language IT/ITES companies are negligible in number in India.

I am not having any exact idea about the amount of business we get from UK but on any given day, it is much lesser than US.

As per the news are coming, major impact would there on UK as well but not as great as US.

Actually, major focus of the alternate and contemporary media is on US, so people are not giving much attention towards UK
