Dilemma regarding joining company Vs Preparing for CAT - 23-05-2008, 09:36 PM

Hello everyone ,
I am a mechanical engineer ..just completed my final semester exams. I am placed in infotech enterprises and i am asked to join them by july 14th.
coming to CAT ..i took one year cat coaching at time. my first experience of cat exam is not discouraging. its 90.2 percentile. That was more than what i expected with the kind of preparation i had.
now i want to take CAT seriously...and here i am in a dilemma of choosing between
a) get work experience of min 1.5 yrs along with cat preparation
b) just completely concentrate on cat preparation for 2008.

There are no family pressures to take up a job.( no responsibilities). I dont have good communication skills . i doubt this will be a problem for me to clear GD and PI.
so my only concern is to improve my skills...now do u think its possible for me to improve myself in this short period..or shud i work for some time and then try to crack CAT.
As the joining date is coming closer ..am increasingly tensed ...am unable to make a decision. seniors..please put in ur inputs and guide me..
waiting for ur replies..

My personal experiences in 2007 GD/PI says it becomes difficult(Not impossible) for ppl who have taken a drop for an academic year to convert gd/pi calls. Work experience of 1+ year will enhance your chances for converting calls. If i were u i would take up the job and have a crack at CAT parallely. That is what i am doing now ;-).

When the going gets tough, the tough gets going...

Missed in 2006
Will succeed in 2009 ....
