can you plz elaborate more on Selective hiring...
Also was wondering if it would be better to prepare for CFA L1 rather than looking for an immediate switch..or go for CFA after switching the job.
Selective hiring is always open for all firms, but however, for fresher who is looking for Industry line shift might not get the opportunity. For example, someone trading in Lehman brokerage, might get hired by Goldman for same credit / equity markets. But everyone has a good feeling that things will improve in next half of the year, however, it is difficult for anyone to predict that bottom has reached and now economy will only move upside.

CFA could be a good alternative, however CFA L1 will not insure that you will get good opportunities in Financial domain, however will surely enhance your chances.

History shall be kind to me, because I intend to "write" it down..

Also, I used to work for a KPO...before I joined a b-school. I loved every minute of my 8-9 hour shift. I'm not trying to argue with anyone, but I just don't want people to takeaway negative views about the KPO industry after reading this thread.

We use Nike/Adidas/Levi's products, don't we? These companies have been accused of running sweat shops at various third world countries. Does that mean the manufacturing industry sucks? Or does it mean that these companies suck?

Another thing I'd like to add is that despite burgeoning costs, India remains the hub of BPO/KPO/IT operations. That's because we have more people who are English-speaking than the US/UK/Europe. China has a bigger population, but research shows that we are more adaptable, and better trainable. In the next 50 years, even by current trends, we'll retain our position, and be doing just as well.
india losing lead in outsourcing fast though at moment its no 1
India most mature spot for offshore IT services- ITeS-Infotech-The Economic Times

evemn inidan companies like INfosys etc r setting up centers outside india

KPo sector can survive but only if hikes r below 5% p.a
then how will employees survive???????
we r employees not owners

kpo sucks

no growth, uncertain future, slave type conditions:huh:
Bas? You got tired in just a month?

Frankly speaking, I am no big fan of KPOs but the way you have vented out your frustration about how you were made to work highlights your state of mind in a clear way.

Agreed that KPOs may not give you long term growth, but just quitting it without getting a real tase and feel is a decision that you may live to regret my friend. Do you really think that now that you are already an MBA, your work of giving out private tuitions and getting into a PSU bank are going to give you phenomenal growth that you expect?

Life may be tension free in a PSU bank but have you thought about what it will do to your mindset? Youd will get the typical "sarkari babu" mindset and in the long run, you will stand to lose out more than gain.

Frankly speaking, despite the fact that as per you "KPO job sucks", if I were you, I would wait for a better opportunity and move out to another KPO/Ibank after a year or so (actually I have myself done this after being in the same situation as you) and I am happy I stayed there.

The main point of consideration in your case is not about KPOs being bad or PSU banks being good.....it is about attitude and the will to fight it out. At a time when you should have become even more motivated to fight out, you just laid to rest your weapons and therefore surrendered. This is something that will be long etched in your memory. I suggest you do something about it.

Regards.

PHEWW !! finally i read all the posts of this thread today!

well..so i summarised it this way that KPOs r good 4 sum1 who has bachelors & looking 4 mba from top tier b-school. BUT... how can one make it into a KPO with just graduation degree i,e b.b.a , bms ,bcom etc???
as it has already been mentioned in the posts that kpo requires specialized skill set & high qualifications atleast an mba[finance] !
