Hi,
I have and experience 1 year 6 month in SAP. Working on XI: middlware. SAP has many modules, basically it's a complete package for handling data of any sort of organizational data. There are many such platforms which enable you to do so. But most are very specific. Not as vast as SAP. Therefore SAP attracts a large market share. Even though Oracle is venturing into ERP solutions, SAP is definitely here to stay.

I have a similar query, about career in SAP. I This year i wanna go for MBA. After MBA if i choose a career in SAP, what role will be suitable. Ofcourse i dont want to do the Technical consultant stuff.

@maniac: What s DMS in IITD. It's entrance exam thru JMET?

There are no free lunches. But then if one goes by figures, opinions, the number of SAP training institutes and the requirement for SAP trained people,
getting SAP certification is a win-win situation. The hit rate of SAP certified professionals getting a job is very high. Almost every company needs people having SAP knowledge.
But a word of caution, check the credentials of the training institute. There are some who have tie-ups with companies and get their students placed after the course.Go for such institutes.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Dude!!
wait a while!

do not pursue a skill simply because it is hot!
Undoubtedly SAP is "the" hot skill these days!
but then choose your options carefully!

in SAP you need to have very conceptual, practical and good know how of the sap system, the functionalities, the business processes and the clients business!

Its not an easy stuff, at the same time it surely is very challenging and interesting! look forward to what you like, and how can you connect to its modules vis a vis ur previous eeducation....

u ll find people in SAP being paid 1 crore a year....at the same time u d find them struggling for a job! certifications/trainings hardly help!
ur knowledge in sap is what will give u that giant leap!

just one tip! choose the module very carefully, so that u can leverage on ur previous knowledge....all modules give u superb options if u are good at them functionally and conceptually! do not look for the hot skill! look for the module u feel will be hot to learn!

to start with visit their website and check out their case studies and implementations!
u ve some awesome websites for learning sap.

u can also have access to sdn or OSS if someone you know is a certified guy! There can work live on a learning system and even have access to notes!

hope that helped!

all d best!
