amc, broking firms, hedge funds, mutual funds etc ?? | Hello. I would like to share my experience and observations when this question is asked. I don't really see much of a comparison directly between an MBA and a CFA. While MBA is more broader in scope, CFA is more of the focused kinds. However, when it comes to placements, the MBA has an edge of campus placements, while a charterholder has to fend for on his own. Another thing that a charterholder may find tough is the fact that once placed in a brokerage house or an IBank, the MBAs generally start studying for the CFA charter and that makes it a tad difficult for the pure CFAs to move ahead. But again, if you are willing to give it a fight and are looking for a good break and build upon it to rise vertically, then CFA is indeed a good option. I have for myself done CFA and 4 years into my job, I am doing an Exceutive MBA so as not to lose out on "not being an MBA" in my company, which guarantees me vertical progress also. So, what I feel is that you can do anything first- MBA or CFA, but remember that if you do an MBA first, then it has to be from a stellar B-School and not from any run of the mill types. Then only will you get a better placement and get into an IBank. If you are not really confident of getting into top B-Schools like the ones you mentioned above, then it is better to do CFA first. Hope you get the idea. Feel free to ask more. Regards. | | | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to Tumtum For This Useful Post: | | | | | |
