Need Funda Regarding Finance Internships - 10-02-2008, 05:29 PM

I am a second year undergraduate at IIT Kharagpur doing a Dual Degree B.Tech and MBA(a 5 year integrated course)
I am hell bent into securing a high end investment job.
In my college, the trend has been such that the high end investment banks have been into recruiting people who show their interest in finance by doing past interns in finance related companies.
I am in my second year now, I am not applying across globally huge investment banks. But I need some place where I can work in the summers which counts as a "finance related summer internship".
I did an internship in Axis Bank, Mumbai at the end of my first year which was all thanks to a Dad's contact. There were several other interns from various B-Schools interning with me. But, I practically did not learn as much as expected. Could some one help me out on how to find out places where I could get to do an internship.

See, if ADR is highly skewed on one side that implies people are trading more because of macroeconimc factors and there may not be something unusually great/bad about few firms on receiving end.

You want to go for Social Entrepreneurship and defend MBA Finance in the interview?
Well can't say much withour knowing what are the interviews you are in the process of giveng "right now" , but would like to add that please make your mind for once and all (atleast for the currenct season ) as they often look for confidence, and during interviews eyes and gestures speak more than . So tell them that you are inclined for numbers and want to establish things with your own resouces etc. and feel that MBA Finance is something which can help you attaining a better insight into resourse raising and management.
Regards,
Andy

I have a doubt regarding the Deferred Tax Assets and Liabilities.
According to my understanding, Deferred Taxes A/L are used to reconcile the cash flow between the Financial Statements and Tax Statements.
If a company is paying tax, it will always pay it on Taxable Income.
Then how does Deferred Tax A/L affect the cash flows of the company?

Deferred Tax Liability / Asset is the difference amount that the Company will adjust with its Income Tax department by next Filing. For example a Company has already paid $3 million as tax and the Company is supposed to pay 2.1 million, so 0.9 million becomes deferred tax asset and vice versa. This 0.9 million the Company will have to adjust before the Financial year ending. In each quarter there might be a case when the Company's calculation could differ with Income Tax department's Calculation, which the Company pays / claims at the year end. Deferred Interet expense / Income thus become obivious.
