would be glad if someone who has lived or is living in london or knows bout it could reply..

what iv heard is accomodation = 600-800 GBP others 600-800 GBP per month.. total expenses per month 1200-1600 GBP.. it this reasonable.. coz someone also told me that it mite be as high as 2500GBP/month
Hello buzzeg,

Your concerns are justified.. It will be very difficult for you to manage below GBP 2000 in London.. It can be as high as GBP 2500 depending on how less frugal you are. I said less frugal because no way you are going to be extravagant in London.

However, there is a way out. You can take the rented accommodation outside London (a little far from workplace - ~20-25 Kms.) and then can manage in GBP 1200 (if u use public transport for commuting)

Woah, stumbled on some big secret have you?

I do not have numbers for the overseas stipend that Infy pays for onsite stints, but rest assured it is much more than what a typical person would need for 'survival'.

Regardless, the overseas allowance will always be less compared to the salary of a citizen or green card holder in the US. Because unlike the local, the Infy guy goes back to India with all the dollars, gets them converted to INR (x45 or more) and lives like a king

I heard even a programmer analyst with 5 yrs exp with infosys makes just borderline 60 K USD?

can someone from these companies come out of the closet and declare the facts?

Adjusting for inflation I expect it to be around $70-75K now...

as far as my knowledge goes Infy used to pay standard 60K USD for SEs and PAs in US till a year back other then the Indian salary, which of course would be higher for the PA. And premier institutes do not matter at Infosys. (Unless you consider IITs as a non premier intitutes), at least not for people who have joined as freshers and grown in the organization. I heard it plays a role in staring pay for lateral entrants. But not sure of that.

Source : I was a PA with 4 years work-ex at Infy

Hey i dont know if my friends are geniuses or what, but their post-MS salaries on H1B have been much higher than whats being discussed here as the average. This guy from SUNY Bufalo got $85K for doing some C++ work at Bloomberg NYC and another is getting $80K at Goldman Sachs NYC after passing out of Gorgia Tech. The first had no work ex prior to MS and the second had a one-year work at some middle rung Indian IT co prior to MS. I guess when it comes to MS salaries, being at the right place at the right time + your grades in college + how you sell yourself makes all the difference.

Approvals and celebrations will rarely surround your inner decisions and choices to follow Personal Truth. You will be challenged and taunted: “Who do you think you are, anyways?” And, indeed, through your choices and decisions, that is precisely the question you are answering–to yourself.

I stated previously that Salaries in NY are definitely to the tune of $75-80K.. With a little better positioning, you can get even more.

Just for Information, Bloomberg offered the same package at IITD and IITM this year to B. Tech. students. What I mean is $85 K in NY is not such a big deal.
