Hi vivek7040

Regarding your question - whether to take an additioanl eight months or to do any other post graduate diploma. The answer lies on your future job upon your completion of study.

If you are thinking to go into investment banking, there are some lisense which you have to take. On the other hand, if your application to investment banking is not successful, then this additional 8 months may not be too useful to you.

Hi sreekane

I am glad to hear that you are working towards your goals! If you need some help in crafting your resume/CV, application letters at a later stage, feel free to contact me.

I have been assisting many others for their application packages for MBA admission and career progress. Some of my previous partners are now studying in Oxford, IMD, INSEAD; some other of my clients are working in leading firms such as Dell, McKinsey, IBM Consulting, UBS investment, P&G etc.

No matter what, I wish you all the best.

Hi sharan@phoenix

Regarding your question - if there any company willing to train a non-finance graduate to take over finance jobs. Yes. However, it depends on how good you are.

If you have been a top grader, ranked among the best 5% in the cohort, it is highly possible that leading finance firms will consider you as a candidate for their management trainee programme. However, if you are unfortunately a typical normal average student, the chances are not high.

Kind regards,
Thomas

Hi xyz
Some very specialized profiles like front end investment banking are next to impossible given your background. So I hope you are applying to right kinda profiles i.e. the profiles are which are worth your shot!
Given the turmoil in financial markets, companies are already low on hiring. So that can be one factor.
The other factor is that NCFM and Finance related work-ex in IT sector is not taken very highly by the companies. So your best shot will come only when you clear L1 CFA or FRM or CAIA. So till then, just hang on, and keep on updating your knowledge.
DO a bit of research about FRM and CAIA and just check whether they match with your career plans or not! Who knows Finance may be back in glory by the time you pass L1 CFA, and IBanks may start recruiting in dozens
Sorry if I sounded rude, but that was the best advice possible

This could be because the work you do in your present organisation is IT - the training you have received is finance for non finance people - and the NCFM and CFA indicate intent and not content.

Do you want to work for a financial services KPO?

Write back.
