Hi,
This is really a great forum for FRM in india. I am planning to give FRM 2008, is it too late now to start preparing. I am planning to join Institute of Quantitative finance for training in mumbai. Any feedback on the same is welcome.

Also please let me know which calculator should I use -Texas or HP for FRM. Please suggest a place from where I can buy it in Mumbai.

In case someone is interested to Join Institute of Quantiyative finance for training in mumbai, please reply so that we can get 10% discount.

Thank you

Surya,

We require a minimum of 10 paid candidates to add a site. Any exam site that does not maintain 10 or more paid registrants by the end of standard registration will be closed and candidates will have to travel to a different site. The addresses and directions of all confirmed exam sites will be added later in the year.

Please email frm@garp.com if you have any other concerns.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi,

This is SuryaSanthosh and my GARP ID number is: 75273. This is to
enquire the details of the exam sites of the FRM 2008. I wanted to
know if there is any chance for Hyderabad in India to get qualified as
an exam site.

Thanks & Regards,
Surya

Phew !!!
Coaching classes for FRM!!

As some one who passed the exam last year a piece of advise...

Indians generally take education very seriously but this is taking it a bit far.
From what I saw in the exam last year most of the questions were set by industry participants and tested your functional knowledge .
I had prepared for about a month yet could attempt most of the questions.
Even this year GARP have e mailed the people who had passed the exam in previous years and are working in the industry and asked for questions based on actual experiences.
From what I saw last year a bulk of the questions are set this way and the rest are pretty straight forward for which you do not need class room coaching .

I know quite a few people who spent upwards of 400 hours on preparation and yet failed as they were unable to attempt the questions that were not theoretical but based on market experience.

Anyways the FRM in any case is not that big a deal for you to spend months on it,it is just a designation to be acquired alongside work .Don't make it the central point of your life for the next 5-6 months .

Just my 2 cents...

@rajat
Classes may help for people who donot have Financial workex-background,as they are completly unaware of style of exam, its contents n approach to attempt it..that way i guess it sometimes becomes important to stay in that run..but everything boils down to our own understanding and preps..
Rajat it would be a great idea if u could mention the prospects of getting job if one clear each of the following or with combinations-if u could give an insight to it..as lke im from engineering background apart from these papers i hardly know where i can work/wat role i like to work on..so i feel soemtimes handicapped that where i am heading at..Therefore i request if u could tell me/us how :
1).. CFA L1
CFA L2 .....******Help can get a JOB coupled with Engineering*******
2)..CFA L1+L2------>??
3)..L1+ FRM ..(considering if one gives L1 in june and he ahs time for L2 next year ..in between he can give FRM and get a job ....that way..
4)alos plz let me know how MBA can be combo with L1..shuld it be after competion of L2 to do MBA fmr top indian..or after L1 also it can be worth..to get summers and final palcemnets in industry we apply..

5)..Lastly can CFA L1,L2 help us recognised to Consulting firms if we put it in our resumes..

These are random queries i liked to ask n m sure like me and ur reply can come big handy to ppl like me..

Thanks rajat..

Like to know did u gave ur L3 this june..??how was it..

Thanking You,
Abhishek..
