There are two chapters which are there in study guide but I dunno why GARP didnt include these into core readings part.

Already there is so much of material suggested.

May be you can get what is available now & start studying.

Hi buddy,

To add more to what Anil posted,

The current core Readings thats available is pretty vast and will last you for atleast 3-4 months. Till that time, the missing chapters will be out.

So just go ahead and purchase it.

cheers,

Shyam

I think we all may need to refresh our basic mathematics with regard to Intergation, Calculus etc. for proceeding in Quant section.

Pls follow links for Paul's Online Math Notes :

Hi! Shyam, Anil & Everyone

Thanks Anil 4 the Links provided.
It seems Shyam knows a lot about FRM.

Please help me with the feedback on Ace. How good r they , since they r too costly. Whether it is worth the money.

Secondly any inputs for IQFI, the people who are interested in joining IQFI. The idea is both of these go gradually.

Thanks & Regards.

Re: Financial Risk Manager [FRM] by GARP - 09-05-2008, 11:35 PM

Hi
This is regarding ur query on the use of the calculator...I believe Shyam had answered a similar query some time back on this thread.
This is what he said:

" would advise you to go with TI BA II Professional or Plus and not the HP one. Thats because, all the Schweser Notes of FRM or CFA will give explanations and calculations to numericals with the help of TI BA II PLus calculator.
Between Plus and professional, Professional is a bit more advanced and contains more functions than the Plus calci."

I would like to add the following

  • Schweser recommends the TI BAII Plus/Pro for the FRM examination. If you do purchase a TI BAII , please note that it comes preset from the factory with P/Y (payments per year) set to 12. Remember to change the same as and when required.
  • I have seen both the TIBA versions ..while the Pro version looks really cool :cool2:, its keys are slightly harder compared to the other one
Hope this helps

Thanks! a Lot (Pyronite)

Yes it really solves my problem of the Calculator, so better 2 go for
Professional.

But no help is coming my way in case of coaching centres for Ace & IQFI. Maybe, noone wants to comment.........but i think we should be willing 2 give feedback if anybody knows.

Thanks & Regards.

Hi All,

Not so good news for those who wish to base their studies on schweser notes only.
Schweser site now mentions availability date as Late June.

I talked to Laxmi copier, he also told that these will be available not before June 1st week.

But it also depends how schweser despacthes material.

Re: Financial Risk Manager [FRM] by GARP - 10-05-2008, 01:11 PM

Hi buddy,

Regarding FRM coaching it all depends upon whats ur expectation from the training. If you dont have a background of MBA Finance, Engineering etc Its advisable to have a longer duration training. If you have a good understanding of Derivatives, Probability and statistics a shorter duration of training will do.

Ace3levels, Pristine and IQF all are GARP listed FRM course providers, so all of them are definitely not just another household tution class. All of them would have FRM certified professionals teaching at their place

Now it all depends, on whats ur requirement from the training. If you want more guidance, study materials, just to get a head start or to have a macro understanding of the FRM exam. Figure out what do u need to know at the end of ur training.

Set an objective in ur mind, and visit both Ace and IQF. Visit their centre and Probe them on how they can assist you in preparation for FRM exam.

Point to be noted: Dont go and just chit chat with the centre counsellors, have a word with one of the professors over there. U will have a fair idea if you need to join them or not.

Every FRM coaching class has been centred on some USP, viz. duration of training, Costs, Professors, study materials etc. So I cannot rule out one as best and other as worst.

So its alone U to decide which one to join,

cheers,

Shyam
