I have some peple added on my Orkut profile, some have pmed their Contact nos to me.

Remaining people, please pm me ur contact details and add me up in Orkut.

In any case, lets wait till Schweser comes up in Laxmi Xerox centre in Mumbai. It will be available latest by May 1st week. There has been a lot of discrepancy on the materials that Laxmi provides - Some people dont get CDs, some dont get Question Banks, sometimes pages are missing and et al,

So I urge you guys that Dont buy the Notes from Laxmi in a Hurry, and make sure that one gets all the notes properly.

Keep all guns flaring for the FRM exam

cheers,

Hi
Thanks for the honest reply. But I would still like to give it a shot and hope for the best. Because of some personal reasons i will not be working for 3-4 months, and so was hoping that why not utilise the time. BTW i have been educating myself and started reading HULL.

Would like to know what do the guys study for knowing/refreshing the maths concept. Also before jumping into reading core readings and schweser do you guys suggest reading any books .

Thanks again in advance for your replies to my question.

You'll find it difficult to grasp the concepts in Hull unless you already have an understanding of the terms used in derivatives etc.Engg gives you a good headstart.but hey, many engineers work in risk mgmt these days and strong stats and probability knowledge is a given .
plus if you are working long hours (likey if you are a s.w guy) it may be difficult to spare many hours a day starting from scratch. if you are still asking basic questions at this point in time, it may be too early for you to attempt 2008 Nov realistically speaking.

Hi

Would like to add more to what dyslexic said.

From my preparations on FRM, I feel that FRM requires more knowledge of Quant than of Finance. One may have good knowledge on Derivatives mechanism, Bonds etc but FRM tests you on how to price that bond, valuation, Pricing and stuff.

So if you have knowledge of Finance or Not, everyones on the same page.

Secondly, The books that u mentioned in ur previous posts are mandatory books inorder to crack FRM. But all these books should not be read in Isolation.

Its definitely not a good idea to read just Hull and then move on to Schweser and other stuff.

One has to primarily refer to the FRM 2008 AIMS, find the learning objectives - then combinely study Schweser, Handbook, Core Readings. etc

Study with a purpose and that AIMS all about. If one doesnt have Schweser or Core Readings this point of time, one should atleast try combining readings with 4th Edition Handbook

Cheers,

Shyam

Hi all,

Everyones here are referring that they are currently reading Gujarati

R u guys referring to the;

Basic Econometrics - Gujarati book or
Essential Econometrics - Gujarati Book

Basic Econometrics primarily consists of theory while Essential Econometrics consists of Numericals. Theres also a solution manual to the Essential Econometrics book.

Please let me know If you have Essential Econometrics book and its Solution Manual.

cheers,

Shyam
