Look, it is really tough to plan so much in advance. What your senior at Insead said is true cos working in a startup would expose you to lot more situations which would add to your management potential. Now as long as you do not have that kind of an offer, do not fret too much. What matters is how you perform at whatever job is given and how you advance. Also note that the overall profile matters in foreign b schools and not just one criteria as such.

There is nothing against being a tech guy. Infact if you are a good tech guy, with management training, you are set to go back into that tech field with greater potential and training right. All this is assuming your interest stays in management side over the next 3 years. Who knows you may end up liking the technology your on so much that you dont feel the need to get back to mgmt training :neutral:
