Lehman India , Fixed Income Analytics - 03-06-2006, 09:02 PM

I just passed out of IIT Kharagpur and got placed in Lehman Brothers Mumbai in their Fixed Income Analytics division which is supposedly a software development div working on ecommerce , credit ,mortgages , data analytics etc .
I basically like programming , math and software development and wouldnt mind picking up some knowledge about finance either . Does any 1 have any idea how good an experience this is likely to be in terms of finance , programming , etc ???
The pay is good but its more the nature of the job that i'm thinking of at this point of time . If it turns out to be quality assurance or support I would kick it up at once .
Also , what exactly does an analytics programmer do ? The mumbai div is in all probability supporting the London and Tokyo hubs , but what is the level of work which has been shipped off here ?
I gave CAT without prep this year , didnt get any calls ... wasnt xpecting anythin either .... dont really feel cut out for an MBA at this point of time.

I applied for this division bcoz i felt i'd get to learn somethin about fin ;
and IBanks are known to have good computing farms / computing infrastructure , so i felt it could be a good experience on developing some real time software keeping in mind that programming is somethin i love .

Could this type of an experience lead me to a good MS / PhD program in say
computational finance / or may be even CS ( data analytics , databases .... whatever ) ...

thanks for reading so much ..
Nasdak
