Working for European IT Company is better than Working for a US or Indian Company? - 14-05-2006, 10:23 AM

Hi,

Someone told me that working for a European IT company like SAP, LogicaCMG, CapGemini, is better than working for a US company or an Indian company.

Logic apparently is that:
a) Europeans treat employees much better as that is a key aspect of work culture there
b) They pay better
c) They don't expect you to work like a dog and not have time for yourself
d) Working in a European company makes you skilled not just at hard technical or managerial skills but also gives you tremendous soft skills learning due to the complex multicultural environment. So after three years you are a much better "allround" professional

Do people out there have more views on this ?

Hi...
your points are valid , and significantly true. But again more than the Europe or US genralised notion, its more specifically about the Company you work for. Innovation is more amass in US Organisations in a larger scale, so if you opt for a European Company, make sure you constantly learn and you are able to innovate. Capgemini has a good work culture, in the sense that I havent come across any rumours through friends. The HR Practises is upto you to probe into and figure out the "finer politically correct details".

On second thoughts, European MAJOR PLAYERS wud be a good option, to work for, instead of an obscure European Company. And you have your statistical points in favour of Eu Companies , right. Go ahead with it . And please pursue the TECHNOLOGY that YOU have the passion for, not your Company.

je te souhaite bonne chance et bon courage !

European or American .. As long as you are working out of India, it is the same typical Baabugiri sort of working and treatment to the employees.
I do agree with what all you said, if it is Working for an European company in Europe. The very moment Indian management takes over things in India, even Microsoft becomes Macrohard!

Cheers!

Mostly if it is an Indian vendor, not all vendors pay the kind of heed to the clients like the Indian vendors do.
