GARP's FRM ( Financial Risk Manager ) Exam

Hi ppl,

Me considering to register for GARP's FRM ( Financial Risk Manager ) exam when the registration opens this March. At the very onset the curiculum looks pretty challenging and the exam is a marathon 5 hour test to be held on November 18, 2006 probably just one day before CAT 2006 .

Currently I am working in the operations department of an Investment Bank. If I am able to clear the exam then it becomes relatively easy for me to move laterally within my organization. But can anyone let me know if 8-9 months prep is enough to clear this exam ? I know a lot of guys enrolling for the CFA ( AIMR ) examination, but do we have anyone opting for this exam or anyone who is a FRM ?

48 hits and no replies ! I have waited patiently for over a week for someone to respond to my query. But I guess no one is appearing for this exam . Anywhichways I researched quite a bit and found that some of the topics here are similar to those for the CFA - II and CFA - III . So obviously it is gonna be very tough. However in all probability would register asap when the registeration opens this March .

In case any of you have any information regarding this exam please do not shy from posting . Feels lonely to be the only one posting in a thread

I feel its very much possible to clear in 8-9 month preparation.

I gave exam and felt reading via scheweser is not enough...
go thru extra readings....I spend around 2 and half month and revised once.
Though there r 3 books but level of detail makes it 5 books...

There is difference in level of question asked in exam and in scheweser.

I have been to IQFI at Goregaon on this saturday. They are giving training at length of 13 weeks. Mr Abhijit one of the trainer seemed to be very strong in statistics.I am already registered with them but have not paid the fees yet. Does anybody else have any idea.

Hi

I have discussed with IQFi seems to be good but they are first timer do not know how they will teach.Pristine has 1 year of experiance .Pristine gives only 50 hrs but IQFI gives 104 hours .I also want to join but do not know what to do.
