Hi everybody,
I am in a big dillema & want ur help.

I hav passed Engineering(Electronics & Communication ) this year.I appeared 4 CAT this yr but the score has been very dissapointing.My score in SNAP is 60.5.I hav applied 4 SIIB & SITM.I donno whether I will get a call.My XAT was also not good & I donno whether I will get any call.

2ndly,I got a job through Campus Interview in a Company.But they hav not given offer letter till now & I donno whether they will ultimately give it.(I got the job 8 months back.)

Now,I am in a dillema whether 2 apply 4 MAT or give CAT next time.Bcoz I hav heard that frm MAT institutes salaries are sumwat 8K-10K & their course fees r also quite high.I donot plan 2 invest more than 4.5 L .I am not sure about the fact that after investing sumwhat 4-6 lacs whether this kind of salary is apt.& I hav also heard that if I take marketing ,then I hav 2 do a job which will involve sum direct sales.

It wud totally depend on your preference
whether u wanna do an mba jus for the sake of getting an mba degree or do u wanna do it from a reputed college
but of course on the flip side it is much easier to get into the colleges under MAT
but if i were you i wud certainly wait for one more year ( which i plan to do anyway cos didnt get thru myself)
and about the job talk to your training department people and ask them bout the offer letter and even if that doesnt work out u can always aplly off campus
so cheer up man
nothing worth having in life comes easy
pull up ur socks and start preparing for CAT06

Hi!

You seem to have a good academic background, I wouldn't recommend MAT for you. Go take a job..talk to the company that interviewed u (call them up or send them an email)...jobs galore in the IT Industry, take up any other company...gain some valuable work ex and take CAT again.

But wudnt age be hindering my cause if I decide 2 opt 4 CAT next year as I will turn 24 next month+I hav 2 yr education gap (as I was studying B.S.C & I did not complete it bcoz I cleared our state joint entrance)?

You cannot alter the past, but u can definitely make better choices in the present to have a better tommorow MAT would be a complete waste of time and effort, the salary that you would get after two years would be lower than what u would get currently (assuming that u join a decent company).

Choice is yours..we can only guide you

hi.to all..!!!!!!!

i got 84.54%ile in MAT but not gud in CAT.......i want to go for advertising nd media......but i didnt get a gud score in snap also i.e.36.25 only which makes impossible for SIMC
my dad says i should go for CHRIST COLLEGE in bangalore for MBA.....is this college a worthy one....as now i think tat after doing MBA i'll go for PG in advertising course.....
CAN anyone suggest me .......help me seniors...

78% in XII
and i am in my final yr...in BCOMM hons(in accounts)

aw CRAP! are you dying or something? coz if you arent, then the age and time issue is simply too stupid to think of. so what`s wrong if you start an MBA at age 25 or 26?? where`s the fire...and what`s the rush? time spent woking before doing a PG is NOT a "waste of time". why do u have to think that your real professional life will begin only AFTER your MBA?? mba is a course that requires maturity and a good line of thought, which is best developed over time and through professional experience. older and experienced candidates derive much more out of the mba experience than freshers...and i`ve personally seen this at my workplace. in my office we have an mba (fresher) from one of the top colleges...he`s never seen the inside of an office before, and he makes a complete fool of himself trying to implement all that he learnt in his classroom word-for-word. And then there are experienced guys from some not-so-good institutes, who totally kick ass coz they have a good perspective and strong understanding of work environment and the dynamics involved. FYI, in most of the top b schools abroad, the average class age is 27-29, and they dont even look at applicants without work experience.

so dont get into the herd mentality of jumping into an mba just becoz u`re getting "old" (i`ve met people from all over the world, but in no other country do people get "old" as rapidly as in india..our shelf life seems to be really short!!).

Dude I would recomend to get in touch with the company and get ur call letter. Start working cos you'll have the following advantages :

-- work ex ... (thats a must according to me for MBA)

-- Cash ... we all need cash. Think of ur salary as installments for ur MBA. Open a bank account and save it .

-- Time ... You'll get some time to think abt ur future . You are showing signs of desperation. It's not required. Spend time while doing ur job to study for CAT. Think about what you want in life. Getting stuck with things in life which you really don't need is depressing.

-- Redundancy ... It gives you options in life . If you don't crack this year , you'll get a chance next year . Studying for entrance tests w/o backup is sucidal , they are famous for their glorious uncertainities.

Just believe in yourself and things will work out. ATB

thnx 4 pouring in wid ur views.As far as the scenario wid job is concerned,The college authorities attitude is very puzzling-they r not helping & saying we donno about it,only the company knowsThe company is saying,wait,we will definitely send u d offer letter.

Anyway,the name of the company is STNL(Sterling Networks & Communication Ltd.) & its base is in Chennai.Do any1 of u hav got any idea regarding the company?If yes,do share wid me.

As far as MBA is concerned,I am definitely not giving MAT.Bcoz I got thru ICFAI Kolkata last yr.I opted out since I wanted 2 study in a premier B-School.So I am pulling up my socks & yaah,there is a bit of frustration from my part ,But at the end of the day this is life ,this is how things go on & I hav 2 accept it anyway.
