Variations of this question have been answered time and over again on different threads, however since you have taken the time out to compose such a long post and since after the exam I am relatively free I will try and answer to the best of my knowledge.

The answer to this question has to be general because it very much depends on the individual. For the sake of giving a definite answer I will say that simply passing a Level 1 will not get you any decent job in Finance. However a L1 coupled with your background may get you in.
For example an I Bank looking for a Quant Oriented position may shortlist an IIT grad because having done L1 would imply that he has basic fin knowledge and can quickly learn and adapt to the job.It would also show ones commitment and interest in the field.
But an ordinary grad who has nothing to offer apart from a CFA L1 should not expect any good offers.
In my own case I got interested into Fin way back during my IIT days.I worked with a Fin startup on campus and did lots of extra Fin courses in SJMSOM(we were allowed to take up one course of our choice every sem).
This exposure allowed me to get into a Quant profile in a Financial Services KPO that time I had not even registered for the L1.8 Months down the line
after passing the L1 in Dec I moved to my present job of a Quantitative Analyst with a French Hedge Fund.
Did the L1 help me get the job? I don't think so I probably would have made it without the L1 ,but it certainly assured my employers towards my commitment to the field.
A CFA L1 will add a little spice to your resume nothing more but what it will do is to help you get a better understanding about the Financial services industry and that will allow you to make a better informed choice about the kind of career you want.
A L2 with an ordinary background may get you an entry level job in Financial Analysis with some KPO.A L3 with some relevant work ex would allow you to enter into a top I Bank/Hedge Fund.

2. SO are guys in India considering this couse only after having failed in the CAT ........ so that makes CFA secondary to the PGP courses of IIMs.... is that so???
But to be a global player and to avoid corporate finance, dont u think an MBA after CFA wud make alot better sence as at the undergraduate level we do not have a substantial and globally competitive course in the area of commerce, finance and economics.............. what say guys.....
|
An MBA and a CFA are not competitive but
complementary. An MBA is a general Business degree whereas a CFA is specialization in financial analysis.Yes a lot of ppl do the CFA after failing to get in the IIMs but a lot of IIM grads also do the CFA and so do a lot of people who did not take the CAT in the first place!!! It has nothing to do with the CAT but everything to do with your own career aspirations.

4. and guys out of STALLA and Schweiser which is better??????? plz write your personal views........... as one food can singularly cure a man's hunger... what are the diets in complementary to the main course diet ????? well what I wish to say is that if I actually happen to choose stalla or schweiser than what other resources do I need to complement it.... like text books etc.....
|
I do not know about Stalla but I found Scheweser to be pretty good for both L1 and L2 .Of course you will feel Schweser does not cover everything in detail but in you start doing that you will never end up completing the course.

Only you will be able to make this decision and probably after actually working in such a profile. In any case Finance has dozens of possible work profile you may hate one but love the other.
Yes an IIM A,B,C can get you into Sales and Trading .
