Once you register for the course you will get the books and you can start studying on your own.. given you are from commerce background you should not have much of a problem...

You can find coaching classes in mumbai.. No idea about your city... also buy schweser notes to supplement along with CFAI books..

hope that helps..

well I managed to clear L1 on second attempt.. first time ended with band 9 and this June I managed to clear the exam.. I gave close to 1 year for Level 1 (taking in to account both the attempts)..

ideally if you are from commerce background around 300 hours of study is required.. but the more you give the better it is.. the questions are like very tricky if you have superficial knowledge and seems to be easy if you have deep knowledge.. so more you study the better it is...

try to make a schedule and give more time on the weekend...

Since I am a software engineer.. I had given around 6 months for my L 1 preparation.. as I needed to start from scracth..

but if you are comfortable and from commerce background it may vary...

to Level 1..

I recently bought TI BA ii Plus Professional. The manual included in the package is only in English, and the other language papers seem to be torn out from the manual. Otherwise the calci looks fine. Did this happen with anyone of you over here who bought the calci recently ? Could it be a duplicate product ?

Hi Friend,

I guess u have been cheated then - The TI-BA Plus/or Professional Calci comes sealed in a Hardbound Polythene Case. One needs to cut the Case using a sharp tool, inorder to remove the calci

If ur calci didnt come in this Polythene case - the product might not be genuine

Where did u buy that from???

Cheers,
Shyam

It did come in a polythene case. But the manual is in only one language with the other language pages torn from it. Does your manual also contain only english pages ?

I bought it from a shop in Ghatkopar.

Hello folks,

Joined the forum recently and I chanced upon this thread only today ... I see that this is one thread I can associate myself with as I just cleared my CFA LII this june. I can take any questions you guys might have regarding the program while I myself look forward to asking any questions/doubts I may have...

A bit about my background ...
I have been in US since the last 5 years working in software field.. I have taken my GMAT and plan to apply to the ISB clas of 2011.

Good Luck and ATB .

-Carpe

Hi!

I recently registered for CFA L1 for december, recieved the curriculum & started off with the prep 2-3 days ago. I have arranged for Schweser notes as well. Can anyone please recommend some good practice test material (online/hardcopy) apart from all this? Or will Schweser prac tests suffice?

Rgds,

Schweser Practice tests are more than sufficient, provided you do it all. Dont forget to see the Practice exams issued by CFA on their site sometime before the exam.
You can refer the Schweser Pro CD for Ethics section as it contain more questions and also for other topics in which you feel you require more practice. I did the questions for ethics and fixed income from CD and it did help me.
