Hi all,

I need some suggestions on following-

I am doing my undergrads in IT and currently in 4th yr.
My future plan is to do MBA.

I got placed in a consultancy firm as Business Associate which i didn't expect. I haven't join it yet.

Now i got confuse as after doing my study in a technical field .. i got a job which less technical ...so i m kind of unsatisfied but at the same time the job is helpful from the point of doing MBA later.

I don't know whether which job exp is more beneficial for MBA , a job from any leading IT firm like adobe etc or a consultancy firm like accenture, zs associates etc ???

Can you suggest something?

Thnx !

Hi,

I am a 36 year old Electronic engineer with 9 years of work experience-out of which 7 years is full time work experience.

I have received admissions offer from The Institute of Technology and Management (ITM Navi Mumabi) for the one year executive program in General Management and Strategy. I will be very grateful if you advice me:

1) Will the institute and the course add value to my CV?

2) Will it help me grow in my career?

3) I am currently unemployed after being laid off due to recession. Will this course help me reboot my career strongly?

I am attaching my CV and other relevant academic documents for your reference and look forward to your help and guidance.

Best Regards,

Shiladitya De

Let me kick off my this article I found in WSJ about consulting recruitment in MBA this year:

Though I have nothing specific to say here, lets keep some discussion flowing.

Hi guys,

I am sure whether is am posting my query in the right forum or not so kindly excuse if its not the appropriate place.

I am interested in doing an MBA/PGDBM program preferably of a 1 yr duration but am not sure of the options that i should look for (I am interested in both Indian and overseas programmes).
My profile details is as follows:

Education - CA(2006) and CFA Level II, Studied in good educational institutes throughout (B.com-St Xavier's college, Schooling-South Point High School) with decent grades.

Work Experience - Articleship 3 yrs with PwC
Worked with CRISIL ltd for 2 yrs and currently employed with a big 4 firm in their management consulting division (Business consulting not IT) since the last 9 mths.

Age - 27 yrs

I am really looking forward to moving up the value chain the the same field by more into firms which specialise in Strategy (like McKinsey, BCG etc.).
I understand for this I need to do have a MBA degree from a reputed B School.
Kindly let me know the programmes which I should look forward to for applying.

Also guide me as to whether this is the correct time to apply as I am prepared to wait for another yr if needed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Harshk,

IF you are looking forward to Consulting firms of the types McKinsey, BCG etc you can apply to ISB. The blog of consulting club can come handy to you.
